Women's Golf Finishes Sixth at Pinehurst Intercollegiate

Score: Southern New Hampshire University – 1091 (6th/6)

Freshman Hannah May (Phoenix, Ariz.) submitted an 83 in the final round of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate on Friday, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's golf finished up its time at Pinehurst No. 8 in sixth place.

INDIVIDUAL SCORERS

  • May, who improved each day, culminating in the top round of the tournament for the Penmen, finished in 20th with a three-round total of 255.
  • Senior Kaitlyn Lutinski (Derry, N.H.) turned in her best scorecard of the week with an 88 that tied her for 34th with a 274.
  • Senior Morgan Mitchell (Charlton, Mass.) also carded her best round with a 90 to total a 279.
  • Freshman Anna Casagrande (Pelham, Mass.) rounded out the Penmen scorers with a 100 for a 54-hole total of 298.

NOTES

  • Junior Brooke Barrett (Bedford, N.H.) was forced to withdraw and did not factor into the scoring. She shot a 93 Wednesday, before penciling in a 92 in the middle round.
  • Senior Kailey Coleman (No. Berwick, Maine), playing as an individual, shot an 87 – her best 18 holes of the tournament – to finish in 29th with a 266.
  • Sophomore Makyla Lewellen (Zanesville, Ohio), who also played as an individual, ended up with a 271 after shooting an 89.
  • The University of North Carolina Asheville, which hosted the tournament, won the event with a 955, which was eight shots better than St. John's University.
  • Yale University's Ami Gianchandani led wire-to-wire to earn individual medalist honors with a 16-over 232, edging out Boston University's Zhangchen Guo by a single stroke.
  • The Pinehurst Intercollegiate was comprised of 41 student-athletes from six institutions, with all but Southern New Hampshire competing in NCAA Division I.
