Freshman Lisa Hagel (Driehuis, The Netherlands) recorded the first hat trick of her career and added an assist for seven points on Wednesday to lead the Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team to an 8-1 victory over Saint Michael's College in non-conference field hockey action at Larkin Field.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Just one game removed from scoring her first collegiate goal, Hagel found the back of the cage twice in the first quarter before completing her hat trick in the final minute of play. Her second-quarter assist gave her a career-high seven points and upped her season total to 11.
  • Junior Hélène Servais (Brussels, Belgium) totaled seven points in the triumph on a pair of goals and two helpers while sophomore Emily Campbell (Raynham, Mass.) dished out three assists.
KEY MOMENT
  • Southern New Hampshire took complete control of the contest in the opening quarter after scoring four times in the game's first seven minutes. Hagel bookended the four-goal burst that also featured markers from sophomore Meaghan Wile (Littleton, Mass.) and Servais.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The Penmen outshot the Purple Knights by a 32-7 margin, which included a 24-6 edge in shots on goal.
  • Graduate student Melanie Rennie (Madison, Conn.) turned away both shots she faced in the opening 30 minutes before junior Kate Pigsley (Exeter, N.H.) closed things out with three second-half stops.
  • Both teams worked eight penalty corners in the contest
NOTES
  • Senior Laura van der Doorn (Beverwijk, The Netherlands) added a fourth-quarter goal to extend her scoring streak to three straight games to open the season.
  • Freshman Taylor Marchman (Derry, N.H.) accounted for the remaining SNHU goal, which was the first of her career.
  • The Penmen have now outscored their opposition, 18-3, through their first three games.
  • Southern New Hampshire has won five consecutive meetings with Saint Michael's and now owns a 5-4 lead in the all-time series.

  • SNHU resumes its schedule on Friday (September 13) when it welcomes Mercy College to Larkin Field for a Northeast-10 showdown at 4 p.m.
