Women's Tennis Sweeps Past Saint Anselm, 7-0, to Officially Open Season

Freshman Magdalena Hubickova (Prague, Czech Republic) shined in her dual-match debut for the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team, as it officially opened the season with a 7-0 blanking of crosstown-rival Saint Anselm College on Tuesday afternoon at the Penmen Stadium Tennis Courts.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Hubickova was nearly perfect at No. 1 singles against Kaitlin Hughes, winning, 6-0, 6-0. She also teamed with sophomore Alexxa Etienne (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) at No. 1 doubles to defeat Hughes and Emily Jacy, 6-3. 
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire begins the season 1-0 for the 11th time in the last 12 years.
  • With the victory, SNHU earns two points in the Queen City Cup standings to take an early 2-0 lead in the Battle for Manchester supremacy.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Penmen return to action Saturday, Sept. 21 (3 p.m.) when they play host to American International College.
