Junior Gyanna Russell (E. Hampton, Conn.) finished just shy of recording a double-double, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team fell short against Pace University, 64-53, Saturday afternoon at the Stan Spirou Field House.

KEY MOMENTS
  • Southern New Hampshire closed to within eight less than 90 seconds into the third quarter, but Pace reeled off a quick 10-2 run that featured four different scorers and boosted its lead to 44-28 at the 6:36 mark. Pace would grab its largest advantage of the afternoon at 50-33 with 1:49 left in the third and the Penmen would never get closer than 10.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Jackie DelliSanti led all scorers with 22 points (8-15 FG, 6-11 FT) for Pace.
  • The Setters outshot the Penmen, 47.2 percent (25-53) to 36.7 percent (22-60), including 30.8 percent (4-13) to 28.6 percent (4-14) from long range.
  • Neither team shot it particularly well from the line, but Pace was plus-5 and shot it better, 58.8 percent (10-17) to 45.5 percent (5-11).
  • The Penmen captured the glass (40-33) and the paint (34-32), and received more scoring from their bench (13-8), while the Setters produced more points off turnovers, collected more fast break points (8-2) and featured a more impressive assist-to-turnover ratio (14/13-9/16).
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire drops its second straight, while Pace wins for the fifth time in seven contests.
  • Pace, which leads the all-time series with SNHU, 20-9, has now won back-to-back meetings.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Penmen are back in action Tuesday, Feb. 4 (5:30 p.m.) when they take on in-state rival Franklin Pierce University.
  • The next home contest for SNHU is Saturday, Feb. 8 (1:30 p.m.) when it plays host to Assumption College on Pink Day at the Stan Spirou Field House. The game will air on both FOX College Sports and WGIR 610-AM.
