MANCHESTER, N.H. – The National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) announced Monday that Southern New Hampshire University Coordinator of Campus Recreation, Andrew Doyle, will be honored with a NIRSA Annual Service Award. Doyle will officially receive the accolade at the NIRSA Annual Conference in Phoenix, Ariz., on Tuesday, April 21.
Officially, the NIRSA Annual Service Award celebrates the efforts of members in the community, who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in their volunteer service. The Award recognizes up to six professional members and up to three student members for their outstanding contributions to NIRSA and the field of collegiate recreation. The awards are given to members who demonstrate exceptional performance during the previous year in leadership and development of NIRSA programs, policies, events, special projects, or committees. Winners will be acknowledged with a handsome plaque during the awards ceremony at the NIRSA Annual Conference, and have their names recognized in the NIRSA Know and NIRSA Annual Conference materials.
In the last year, Doyle began his two-year term as the State Director of ME/NH/VT, where he hosted a workshop at SNHU and is currently planning a second one to be held this summer at the University of New England. He also chairs the Region 1 Small Programs Committee and is a member of the association-wide Small Programs Advisory Council. Additionally, Doyle was recently named the Innovations Committee Co-Chair, which is tasked with generating ideas on creating a conference experience that is new and different.
SNHU welcomed Doyle to the Department of Athletics & Recreation in August of 2016. In his role with the Penmen, Doyle is charged with the oversight of SNHU's recreation programs, including the Fitness Center, group fitness, intramurals, special events, and aquatics.
