Adriana Timberlake (Braintree, Mass.) paced three scorers in double figures with a career-high 26 points to lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team to a season-opening 88-65 win against the University of Bridgeport on Saturday afternoon at Caldwell University's Corino Court.

KEY MOMENTS
- Southern New Hampshire set the tone from the jump, as back-to-back 3-pointers from Ziliak sparked a 10-2 run over the opening 2:39. Another 10-3 stretch – with eight points from Timberlake – opened a 20-9 advantage with 3:47 left in the opening quarter.
- The lead was 12 a little over a minute into the second stanza when an 11-2 blitz – featuring seven more Timberlake points – widened the gap to 41-20 with 4:44 to play before the half. SNHU would bring a 46-29 lead into the break.
- The margin was still 17 just prior to the midway point of the final frame when eight straight points gave the Penmen their largest lead of the day at 85-60 with 2:45 remaining.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Senior Jenna Roche (Braintree, Mass.) netted eight points (2-5 FG, 4-5 FT), matched her career best with seven assists and collected a pair of steals.
- Senior Danielle Sirois (Pelham, N.H.) posted eight points (4-6 FG) and four rebounds.
- Grad student Meg Knollmeyer (Hampton, N.H.) scored four points (1-6 FG, 2-2 FT) and grabbed eight boards.
- Sophomore Julia Colby (So. Parris, Maine) chipped in four points (1-4 FG, 1-2 3-FG, 1-2 FT) and four assists.
- Junior Ariana Koivisto (Pomfret, Conn.) added four points (1-2 FG, 2-2 FT) and three boards.
- Bridgeport outshot SNHU, 46 percent (23-50) to 41.1 percent (30-73), while the Penmen returned the favor from long range, 43.5 percent (10-23) to 35.3 percent (6-17).
- The Penmen were also plus-5 from the line and shot it better, 81.8 percent (18-22) to 72.2 percent (13-28).
- SNHU won the glass (44-31), featured a batter assist-to-turnover ratio (23/15-11/25), scored more points off turnovers (24-19), second chance points (16-5), points in the paint (28-26) and bench points (20-7).
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire captures its opener for the second time in the last three seasons and the first time since 2018.
- Roche's seven assists matched her seven at Adelphi University on Jan. 11, 2020.
