CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Graduate student Allyson Patterson (Seekonk, Mass.) and senior Sydney Carney (Northborough, Mass.) of the Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team were chosen for the 12-member 2021 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Division II Senior Bowl, it was announced Wednesday.

The NEWISA Senior Bowl brings together players from NCAA Division I, II and III colleges in New England for one final game following the conclusion of their last collegiate season. For the 2021 season, the NEWISA Senior Bowl Selections are honored with a news release announcing the teams and awards will be sent to selected players. However, NEWISA is unable to host a game this fall due to COVID restrictions and concerns.

Patterson, the NE10 Player of the Year and an NE10 All-Conference First Team selection, was the leading vote-getter amongst the 12 individuals picked for the Senior Bowl. Patterson started all 16 contests she has played in, registering 13 points on six goals and an assist. The midfielder led the conference in game-winning goals (4), while ranking ninth in goals and 14th in points. Three of her four game-winners came in 1-0 decisions, with two of those finding the back of the net in the 60th minute or later.

Carney, an NE10 Second Team choice, has started 11 of 12 matches, leading the team in assists (4), while also notching a goal, for six points. Carney ranked fifth in the conference in helpers.

SNHU owns a record of 13-3-1, including 11-2-0 in league play, and captured the program's first NE10 Regular-Season Championship and the top seed in the NE10 Championship. The Penmen, who soared as high as No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches Division II National Top 25 Poll, received their seventh NCAA Championship selection as the No. 3 seed in the East Region and will battle sixth-seeded Mercy College later Thursday (Nov. 18) at 3 p.m. at the RVC Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y.

NEWISA Senior Bowl eligibility is open to all players who will graduate from undergraduate studies during the 2021-2022 academic year and any graduate student playing a final season this current school year.

The New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association is an over 35-year-old member organization that supports the women's collegiate soccer community in New England at the NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III level. NEWISA's signature program is the Senior Bowl. The organization also recognizes All-New England Teams, highlights Coaching Staff of the Year Awards, offers Coaching Scholarships and honors New England collegiate soccer alumna for their service efforts.
