Graduate student Meg Knollmeyer (Hampton, N.H.) posted a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds, which put her with over 1,000 rebounds in her collegiate career, to help left #18/RV Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team to a 57-41 victory at home against the College of St. Rose on Saturday afternoon.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Graduate student Gyanna Russell (E. Hampton, Conn.) 15 points (6-10 FG, 2-3 FT), 7 rebounds, 1 assist
  • Knollmeyer– 11 points (4-6 FG, 3-6 FT), 13 rebounds, 2 blocks
  • Senior Jenna Roche (Braintree, Mass.) –9 points (3-7 FG, 2-2 FT), 5 rebounds, 4 assists
KEY MOMENTS
  • Knollmeyer, who needed 10 boards for 1,000, left no doubt grabbing her 10th board with 4:20 left in the second.
  • Behind a strong defensive performance, SNHU stormed out to a 16-3 lead at the end of the first quarter and extended its lead to 32-17 at the half.
  • The Penmen opened their largest lead of the game at 46-23 with 1:30 left in the third.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Senior Danielle Sirois (Pelham, N.H.) tallied seven points and pulled down six boards.
  • Nina Fedullo was the only St. Rose player with double-digit points with 10.
  • The Penmen defense was relentless in the first quarter keeping the Golden Knights without a field goal the entire frame (0-16).
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire, which is receiving votes in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association NCAA Division II Top 25, is ranked 18th in the D2SIDA poll of media members.
  • The Penmen defeated the Golden Knights for a fourth straight time.  Saint Rose leads the all-time series 16-15.
  • Russell is the only Penmen to have scored in double figures in all 14 games this season.  She leads the team with 14.7 points per game.
  • It was the seventh double-double of the season for Knollmeyer.
  • Knollmeyer had 826 rebounds in three years at New York Tech and leads the NE10 with 177 boards this year for the Penmen.

  • The Penmen return to action Tuesday, January 25 (5:30 p.m.) when they travel to
    New Haven. SNHU's next home game is Thursday, January 27 (5:30 p.m.) when they play host to Adelphi University at the Stan Spirou Field House.  Fans attending will be required to a face mask, regardless of vaccination status.  The concession stand will be closed.
