Collin MacAdams (Doylestown, Pa.) tallied a game-high 20 points, but Southern New Hampshire University dropped its season-opener, 80-77 at the University of Bridgeport on Saturday afternoon.

- Sophomore Evan Guillory (Springfield, Mo.) – 11 points (4-8 FG, 1-2 3-FG), 6 rebounds, 3 assists
- Junior Noah Kamba (Lynn, Mass.) – 10 points (4-12 FG, 1-3 3-FG, 1-3 FT), 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals
KEY MOMENTS
- SNHU opened a 15-12 lead with 12:11 to play in the first half on a three-point field goal by freshman Royce Williams (Manchester, N.H.).
- Bridgeport used a 25-2 run from that point to open a 20-point lead, eventually building the lead to 49-26 with 1:31 left in the half on a three-pointer by Kelvin Reeves.
- The Penmen used an 8-0 run at the end of the half to close to 49-34 at the break.
- SNHU finally cut the lead to under 10 with a Guillory lay-up with 7:48 to play at 72-63.
- Southern New Hampshire trailed 80-72 with 1:23 to play, but Becht hit a couple of free throws, and then a three-pointer, to make it 80-77.
- After a turnover by the Knights, SNHU called time-out with eight seconds to go. Â A three-pointer by Kamba, which would have tied the game, fell off the rim.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The 20 points by MacAdams came in just 19 minutes for the Penmen. He did not start the contest.
- The Penmen rallied in the second half by shooting 50 percent (16-32) from the floor. For the game, SNHU finished at 46.0 percent (29-63).
- Bridgeport had the better of it from three-point range, hitting 47.8 percent (11-23) to 36.8 for SNHU (7-19).
- The Purple Knights had a 40-23 edge on rebounds and 22-15 on assists
NOTES
- SNHU saw its 14-game win streak in season-openers snapped by the Purple Knights. The Penmen still lead the all-time series with Bridgeport 31-23. This was the first meeting between the teams in six seasons.Â
- The win made a winner of new head coach Kranthi "Krunch" Senadhi in his debut as the Purple Knights' bench boss.
WHAT'S NEXT
- SNHU will meet Post University on Sunday afternoon (1:00 p.m.) at the Bridgeport Tip-Off Classic.
- The first home game for the Penmen is Tuesday, Nov. 22 (7:30 p.m.) when they play host to Bentley University.
