Ethan Okwuosa (No. Haven, Conn.) and
Jordan Brathwaite (Silver Spring, Md.) scored 13 and 11 points, respectively, but the Southern New Hampshire University men's basketball team absorbed a 71-66 setback against the College of Saint Rose on Tuesday night at Nolan Gymnasium.

KEY MOMENTS
- In a back-and-forth opening half, Saint Rose eventually built an 18-12 lead a little past the midway point, but Southern New Hampshire would respond with seven-in-a-row to grab a 19-18 advantage with a little over eight minutes left.
- One lead change and four ties ensued. With the game tied at 25-all with under three minutes to go in the opening half, Saint Rose scored eight straight and eventually brought a 33-28 lead into the locker room.
- The Golden Knights pushed their lead to as big as 46-37 with 13:07 to play, but an 11-2 blitz – with five points from junior Noah Kamba (Lynn, Mass.) and four from Okwuosa – knotted the score at 48-all with 7:44 to go.
- The Penmen found themselves down one – 56-55 – with 4:40 on the clock, but Saint Rose used an 11-2 run to grab its largest lead of the night at 67-57 with under a minute remaining. A Brathwaite layup and a 3-pointer from junior Preston Santos (Providence, R.I.) trimmed the deficit to 70-66 with six seconds left, but SNHU would run out of time.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Kamba netted eight points (3-7 FG, 2-4 3-FG).
- Graduate student Ryan Layman (Wrentham, Mass.) posted seven points (3-8 FG, 1-2 FT) and three rebounds.
- Sophomore Evan Guillory (Springfield, Mo.) tallied six points (2-6 FG, 1-2 3-FG, 1-2 FT), five boards and four assists.
- Santos finished with the three points (1-2 FG, 1-2 3-FG).
- SNHU outshot Saint Rose, 45.6 percent (26-57) to 40.6 percent (26-64), including 40 percent (8-20) to 26.1 percent (6-23) from downtown.
- Saint Rose was plus-7 from the stripe and shot it slightly better, 68.4 percent (13-19) to 66.7 percent (6-9).
- The Golden Knights won the glass (38-31) and the paint (34-26), scored more points off turnovers (25-10) and on the fast break (17-12), and turned in a better assist-to-turnover ratio (12/12-11/18).
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire has dropped four of its last five.
- SNHU, which leads the all-time series, 23-17, has won 10 of the last 13 meetings against the Golden Knights, but has dropped three of four on the road.
- Since scoring two points in the season opener, Okwuosa has scored in double figures in eight straight. He is averaging 13.7 points and 8.0 rebounds over his last three.
