(Manchester, N.H.) -- Aaron Gray (Providence, RI) scored 20 points on 6-13 shooting but the Southern New Hampshire men's basketball team couldn't rally back after an 18-4 first-half run by Stonehill College on Saturday afternoon. The Penmen suffered just their second home loss of the season falling 63-54 against NE-10 rival Stonehill at the Stan Spirou Field House.

Key Moments
  • Stonehill jumped out to an early 18-13 lead to start the game. 
  • The Penmen came within one on a Noah Kamba (Lynn, Mass.) jumper to cut the lead to 18-17 before Stonehill went on an 18-4 run to close out the first half.  
  • Stonehill led 38-21 at the break following an Andrew Sims jump shot.  
  • The Penmen rallied to start the second half going on a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to twelve with 16:00 remaining. 
  • Kamba hit a 3-pointer with 12:13 to play in the second half to cut the lead to 45-35.  
  • Stonehill extended the lead to 14 once again with 8:02 left in the game. Despite another Penmen rally on a pair of baskets from Becht to cut the lead to seven with a minute remaining, the Penmen were not able to complete the comeback.

  • The Penmen shot 18-49 for the game (36.7%) while Stonehill shot 24-58 (41.4%). 
  • SNHU hit only 5-17 (29.4%) from behind the arc, while the Skyhawks shot 7-18 (38.9%). 
  • The Skyhawks outrebound SNHU by a margin of 37-25. 
  • Stonehill's Andrew Sims led the way for the Skyhawks with 15 points, but all eligible players scored at least 5 points for the visiting team to guide them to a 63-54 win. 
Notes 
  • The game on Saturday marked SNHU's senior day at the Stan Spirou Fieldhouse; SNHU celebrated Senior Corry Long (Cincinnati, Ohio) with family and friends prior to tipoff. 
  • SNHU has dropped its last seven contests against Stonehill, and the all-time series now gives a slight advantage to the Skyhawks at 33-32 all time. 
  • This loss is just the second stumble at home this season for the Penmen. 
  • SNHU moved into fifth place in the northeast division of the NE10.

  • The Penmen travel to Saint Michael's on Tuesday, February 22 to finish out the regular season. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. in Colchester, Vt.
