Sturgess' 24 Saves Lifts Men's Lacrosse to 15-7 Win Over St. Rose

Auger added three goals and two assists in the winning effort

(Hooksett, N.H.) -  Senior Chris Valentine (Derry, N.H.) and junior Ryan Auger (Derry, N.H.) each scored three goals, while senior Alex Sturgess (Derry, N.H.) stopped a career-high 24 shots to lift the Southern New Hampshire men's lacrosse team to Tuesday's 15-7 win over the College of St. Rose at Penmen Stadium.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The Penmen quickly opened a 2-0 lead on goals by Valentine and Pietz.
  • The Golden Knights responded with two of their own to tie it 2-2 with 4:08 left in the first, but Valentine would add a man-up goal to give SNHU a 3-2 lead after one.
  • SNHU controlled play in the second outscoring St. Rose 5-1 and outshooting its opponent 16-9 in the frame. The Penmen took an 8-3 lead into the locker room at halftime.
  • The Penmen continued to set the tone in the third period scoring four of the five goals in the quarter to stretch the lead to 12-4 after three.
  • The Golden Knights rallied with three of the next four goals to cut the lead to 13-6, but SNHU netted the game's final two goals to secure the 15-7 victory.
NOTES
  • Valentine surpassed 100 career points with four points today.
  • SNHU took 51 shots to 45 for the Golden Knights.
  • The Penmen had a 32-24 advantage on ground balls and won 15 of 24 face-offs.  
  • SNHU was 23-for-26 on clear attempts.
  • The Penmen improved to 6-3 all-time against St. Rose, including four of the last five.
  • Terrones (21 goals) and Valentine (20 goals) led the Penmen in that category.  Terrones (29 points) is tied with Auger (29 points) for the team scoring lead.
