(Hooksett, N.H.) - The SNHU softball team dropped a double header on Saturday to the visiting Bentley Falcons. Bentley won the first game 6-3 and shut out the Penmen in the second game 3-0. SNHU falls to 14-16 on the season with the pair of losses (8-6 NE10) and Bentley improves to 15-13 (5-7 NE10).
GAME 1 - Bentley 6-2
· The Falcons jumped out to an early lead in the top of the second inning after a double from Kaylee Mankins and an RBI single from Katherine Noftall.
· Bentley widened the lead to 5-0 in the top of the third inning after a leadoff walk, a pair of singles from Ella Hillier and Kayleen Cain, followed by a three-run homerun by Mankins.
· The Penmen began to rally back in the bottom of the 5th inning after capitalizing on a leadoff single from Emily Carbonneau (Lowell, Mass.). Jordyn Resetar (Hanover, Pa.) also added a single up the middle in the inning advancing runners to scoring position.
· Junior Abi Gray (Litchfield, N.H.) and Bryn Garczynski (Norwood, Mass.) were able to put the ball in play to add a pair of RBIs to end the inning trailing 5-2.
· Bentley extended the lead again to 6-2 in the top of the seventh after a leadoff walk, and a double from Mankins.
· The Penmen had just three hits in the opener against winning pitcher Elise Pereira (W, 8-4), and Payton Doiron who secured her first save of the season.
· Sophomore Leine McKechnie (Passadumkeag, Maine) falls to 4-5 on the season, pitching the first two and a half innings. Freshman Gwyn Hammond (Los Angeles, Calif.) pitched the rest of the game, allowing four hits and four additional runs.
GAME 2 – Bentley 3-0
· Bentley jumped out to another quick lead in game two after a two-run homerun from Sam Petow in the top of the second inning.
· The Falcons also added three hits and a run in the top of the third inning to extend the lead to 3-0.
· Griffin pitched two and a half innings for the Penmen falling to 4-5 on the season. She allowed four hits and two runs for the game. McKechnie pitched the rest of game two allowing just three hits and one additional run, but the Penmen could not string together enough hits to rally back.
· The Penmen finished game two with six hits -- four against winning pitcher Dahlia Fink (4-4) and two more against Doiron, who came in to secure her second save of the day and the season.
NOTES
· Carbonneau had two hits, including her second double of the season.
· Freshman Jordyn Resetar also had two hits on the day and recorded her second career double.
· SNHU leads the all-time series with the Bentley 23-11.

· The Penmen will return to the SNHU Softball Field on Monday to play Stonehill in an NE10 doubleheader that starts at 3 p.m.
