D2CCA East All-Region Honors Doled Out to Three from Baseball

NEWARK, DEL. – Three members of the SNHU baseball team were selected as Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) East All-Region, follow a vote of the region's sports information directors, with results announced on Wednesday.  Sophomore Trevor Anibal (Bedford, N.H.) was named a first-team selection, and redshirt sophomore Nick Schwartz (Massapequa, N.Y.) and graduate student Josh Roberge (Chelmsford, Mass.) were named to the second-team.

Anibal, who was also named to the Northeast-10 first-team as a relief pitcher, has worked in 13 games this season.  He's 6-0 with a 1.53 ERA and three saves.  Anibal has help opposing hitters to a .154 average, and stuck out 47 batters in his 36 innings.  His four-inning relief effort against Adelphi in the Northeast-10 tournament helped SNHU rally for a 5-4 win.

Starting pitcher Josh Roberge, also a Northeast-10 first-teamer, is 8-3 with a 3.19 ERA.  His 85 strikeouts and 73.1 innings pitched top the staff.  His first nine-inning complete game of the season was a shutout of Le Moyne in the Northeast-10 tournament.  In his prior start, against Assumption University, he struck out 14 batters in a seven-inning complete game effort.

In his first season with SNHU, Schwartz has a team-best .405 batting average and a .503 on-base percentage.  He's split time at designated hitter and catcher with Dakota Mulcay (Goffstown, N.H.).  Schwartz has had 23 extra-base hits including 15 doubles, a triple, and seven homers.

The Penmen (41-9), and now ranked seventh in the nation, start play Thursday as the top-seed in the NCAA East Region.  The team is competing in Wilmington, Del. and will take on the loser of the first game between Wilmington University and Southern Connecticut State.
