Jack Pepin (Plaistow, N.H.) carded an even par (72) to help the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team to a day three round of 299. The Penmen finished the three-day, 54-hole event in fifth place (889) just two strokes off the top four which advanced to the NCAA National Championship. St. Thomas Aquinas won the NCAA East/Atlantic Regional at Ravenwood Golf, while the University of Charleston, Gannon University and Davis & Elkins University also earned spots into the national tournament field. AJ Cavotta (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) shot a +2 74. He finished tied for fourth overall with a 217. He advances to the NCAA National Championship field, which will take place May 16-20 at TPC Michigan in Detroit, Mich.
INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS
- Pepin's three-day total of 221 was tied for 13th overall.
- Senior Matt Conti (Walpole, Mass) shot a (+4) 76 and his 223 was good enough for a tie for 24th.
- Freshman Alex Korkuc (So. Setauket, N.Y.) fired a +5 (77) for the third-straight day to round out scoring.
- Junior Jeff Liss (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) carded an 82 (+10) but did not factor in team scoring.
NOTES
- The Penmen were just two strokes behind third place Gannon and Davis & Elkins and 10 strokes better than sixth place West Chester.
- SNHU had 13 of its 15 rounds under 80 including three rounds at par or below.
- Pepin's 71 was tied for the second-best round of the day.
- SNHU had 171 pars as Cavotta himself as 39 and Pepin 37.
WHAT'S NEXT
- The Penmen conclude the 2021-22 season and will be back in action in the fall of 2022.
