Sophomore Andrew Surprenant (Boscawen, N.H.) fired a 1-under 71 in the second round Monday and sits at 1-over 145 through 36 holes of the Granite State Opener, while the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team is in fourth place at Beaver Meadow Golf Course.
INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS
- Surprenant was 1-over after shooting a 74 in the opening round, before responding with his 71 that has him tied for 17th a 1-over 145.
- Senior Sean Dully (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) is also at 145 after carding a 73 in the first round and an even-par 72 in the second.
- Sophomore Stephen Ramos (Danville, N.H.) is tied for 22nd at 2-over 146. He turned in a 72 in the opening round and a 74 in the second.
- Sophomore Sam Maurice (Auburn, N.H.) had his 74 dropped from the team score in the first round and rebounded with a 72 in the second round to also sit at 146.
- Junior Mitchell Cormier (Walpole, N.H.) totaled a 151 after Monday's play. He opened with a 73 and then had his 78 dropped from the team score in the second round.
NOTES
- Senior Evan Rollins (Laconia, N.H.), playing as an individual, had the best score of the day for the Penmen with a 144 that placed him 13th. Rollins opened with a 76 and then fired a 4-under 68 in the second round.
- Sophomore Charlie Blake (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), also playing as an individual, shot 77-79 for a two-round total of 156.
- Junior Drew Cameron (Londonderry, N.H.), another Penmen individual, turned in a 158 (80-78).
- Adelphi University (559) leads Assumption University (560) by a single shot.
- Adelphi's Johnny Solari (71/65) sits atop the individual leaderboard at 8-under 136, which is two strokes better than a group that is in a three-way tie for second.
- Granite State Opener is comprised of 63 golfers from 10 different institutions.
