Junior Deanne Wilson (Buffalo, N.Y.) reeled off a career- and match-high 17 kills to lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team to a 3-2 road victory against Stonehill College on Tuesday night at Merkert Gymnasium

KEY MOMENTS
  • The first set was tied at 18 when Stonehill reeled off seven of the next nine points to go up, 1-0, in the match.
  • Southern New Hampshire led, 13-9, in the second set and scored eight straight – on six Stonehill errors – to widen the margin to 21-9. 
  • The Skyhawks held a 24-23 edge in the third when a Georgia Murphy kill made it 2-1.
  • SNHU led 10-8 in the fourth and tallied seven of the next nine – highlighted by three kills from Wilson – to go up, 17-10. Stonehill eventually climbed to within 24-19, but a Parish kill sent the match to a fifth and deciding set.
  • In the final frame, the Penmen ripped off 12 of the first 14, as Pimenta and Thawnghmung tallied three and two kills, respectively. The teams alternated points the rest of the way.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Set scores were 20-25, 25-14, 23-25, 25-19, 15-5.
  • SNHU outhit Stonehill in the second, fourth and fifth sets, as well as .231-.144, overall.
  • The Skyhawks held advantages in blocks (11-7) and aces (7-6).
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire has won two straight.
  • Stonehill, which left the NE10 for Division I following the 2021-22 season, had captured 15 of the previous 17 meetings with the Penmen.
  • Wilson, who was in her third season as the libero for the Penmen, moved to outside hitter before the match.
  • Peli, whose season high was nine kills, has now reached double figures in each of the last three matches. She is averaging 10.7 kills during that span.

  • The Penmen are back in action Saturday, Oct. 14 (12 p.m.) when they play host to cross-town rival Saint Anselm College at the Stan Spirou Field House.
