Senior Eleonora Guglielmetti (Novara, Italy) secured a win at No. 4 singles, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team recorded a 6-1 victory against American International College on Saturday afternoon at the Ludlow Tennis Club.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Guglielmetti defeated Katja Milicevic, 6-1, 7-6 (7-2), at No. 4 singles, in addition to teaming with freshman Dajana Abadzic (Weinstadt, Germany) for a 6-1 triumph over Maria Cedeno and Taisha Jones at No. 2 doubles.
- Sophomore Alina Kupfer (Baldham, Germany) cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles against Natalija Vlacic and also combined with graduate student Verena Weindl (Munich, Germany) for a 6-2 win over Vlacic and Victoria Azcona at No. 1 doubles to clinch the point.
- Freshman Nadya Lyekontseva (Kyiv, Ukraine) was a 6-3, 6-1 winner against Jones at No. 3 singles to clinch the match.
- Freshman Nadia Alden (Edmond, Okla.) took down Cedeno, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 5 singles and also scored a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles against Milicevic and Charlotte Tvelia, teaming with junior Katelyn Nichols (Manchester, N.H.)
- Senior Maddie Blazejowski (Wethersfield, Conn.) beat Tvelia, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 6 singles.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire has now won five straight matches.
- The Penmen improve to a perfect 21-0 all-time against AIC.
