Julia Colby (So. Paris, Maine) erupted for a career-high 24 points to pace the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team in Tuesday evening's 71-63 triumph over Franklin Pierce University at the FPU Fieldhouse.

KEY MOMENTS
- Southern New Hampshire trailed by two with less than five-and-a-half minutes left in the opening quarter when five straight points from Timberlake sparked a quarter-ending, 11-1 burst that gave the visitors a 19-11 advantage. Gordon added four points during the run.
- The score was 24-15 less than three minutes into the second stanza when 10 consecutive points from Colby powered a 14-0 blitz that capped the half and sent the Penmen to the locker room with a 38-15 lead – their largest of the contest.
- Franklin Pierce used an 8-0 run to start the second half to trim its deficit to 38-23 less than three minutes in and then ended the third quarter with a 12-2 flurry that closed the gap to nine at 49-40.
- A 7-0 SNHU run – triggered by a Colby bucket and capped by a Colby triple – gave the Penmen a more comfortable lead at 63-47 with 4:16 to go. The Ravens would whittle the deficit down to seven at 70-63, but with eight seconds on the clock, it was too little and too late.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Senior Jenna Roche (Braintree, Mass.) tallied three points (1-5 FG, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
- Junior Jess Knight (Hanover, Mass.) scored two points (2-2 FT) and grabbed five rebounds.
- Southern New Hampshire outshot Franklin Pierce, 38.7 percent (24-62) to 36.1 percent (22-61), including 50 percent (8-16) to 40.9 percent (9-22) from beyond the arc.
- SNHU was also plus-5 from the strong and shot it better, 75 percent (15-20) to 71.4 percent (10-14).
- The Penmen captured the glass (47-36) and paint (26-20), scored more points off turnovers (19-16) and on the fast break (31-6), and received more scoring from their bench (14-3), while the Ravens narrowly gathered more second chance points (4-3) and featured a better assist-to-turnover ratio (11/14-11/16).
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire has won three of its last four games. The Penmen are tied for second place in the NE10 standings with Assumption University, a half-game back of first-place Le Moyne College.
- Franklin Pierce leads the all-time series, 59-36, despite SNHU having now won 14 of the last 15 meetings, including 10 straight. The Penmen have also won five straight on the road against the Ravens. The last Franklin Pierce win in the series came Feb. 15, 2017 (76-69) in Rindge.
- After a 70-51 win over the Ravens at home back on Dec. 18, the Penmen have now swept the regular-season series with FPU for five consecutive campaigns.
- Colby's previous career high of 15 points came in a win over Lake Superior State University on Dec. 19, 2021 at the Saint Leo University.
- Colby scored 55 points over her first 13 games this season (4.2 ppg) and has now netted 73 over the last eight (9.1 ppg).
- Gordon's double-double is her second of the season.
- Timberlake, who is 21 points shy of 1,000 for her career, has reached 10-plus points in 18 of 21 games this season.
- This was the first time in 19 contests this season Knight has not reached double figures in points.
- SNHU is 37-12 (.755) since the start of the 2021-22 season.
