MANSFIELD, Mass. – Graduate student Josh Roberge (Chelmsford, Mass.) of the Southern New Hampshire University baseball team was selected as the NE10 Pitcher of the Week for the period ending April 9, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Roberge, the third different Penmen to earn NE10 Pitcher of the Week honors this season, fired a complete-game, one-hit shutout in a 6-0 game-two victory at Assumption University on Saturday. Roberge struck out a season-high 12 and walked just two over seven innings.
In eight appearances, including seven starts, Roberge is 4-3 with a 3.54 ERA, allowing 36 hits over 40-and-two-thirds innings, while striking out 53 and walking 14. Batters are hitting .234 against him. He currently owns a scoreless streak of 11-and-two-thirds innings. During that stretch he has allowed just two hits, while striking out 22 and walking three. He leads or is tied for the league lead in strikeouts and complete games, ranks fourth in wins and is 16th in ERA.
Roberge and the Penmen are back in action Monday (April 10) for a noon doubleheader at Assumption. They play host to the College of Saint Rose in a 3 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday (April 11) at Penmen Field.
