Terrones Tallies Twice But Men's Lacrosse Sees Five-Game Win Streak Snapped

Penmen Fall 16-5 at #10 Bentley, Head to #5 Adelphi for Playoff Opener

Junior Jack Terrones (Anaheim, Calif.) scored twice, but SNHU saw its five game win streak snapped in a 16-5 loss at #10 Bentley University on Tuesday night in Waltham, Mass.

  • Terrones – 2 goals, 1 ground ball
  • Graduate student Tristan Pietz (Dudley, Mass.) – goal, assist, 1 ground ball
  • Senior Ryan Auger (Hampstead, N.H.) – goal, assist, 2 ground balls
  • Junior Cam Cote (Saco, Maine) – 5 ground balls, 1 caused turnover
KEY MOMENTS
  • The Falcons took a 4-0 lead before SNHU scored on a goal by Terrones with :43 left in the first period.
  • The Penmen battled back in the second quarter, and it was 6-5 when Cody Fleming scored with 3:44 to play in the second.  
  • Bentley responded with a man-up goal 42 seconds later to lead 7-5 at the half.
  • The Penmen did not score after the intermission.  Luke Jaber tallied three times in the third quarter for the Falcons and five different players scored in the final stanza.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Bentley had a 16-8 advantage on face offs, and a 35-28 edge on ground balls.
  • SNHU was successful on 19 of 23 clears, but also had 23 turnovers for the game.
  • The Penmen were 0-for-2 in man-up situations while Bentley was 1-2.
  • Junior Ronan DePaul (Elkton, Md.) had 13 saves for the Penmen.
  • Garrett Witt finished with five goals and an assist to lead the Falcons.
NOTES
  • Bentley leads the all-time series with the Penmen 28-4.  The Penmen last won in 2018.
  • Graduate student Chris Valentine (Derry, N.H.) has 138 career points, which ranks 13th all-time in program history.
  • Pietz (55 goals, 56 assists) has 111 career points, which puts him 22nd on the all-time list.
  • Terrones (75 goals, 22 assists) has 97 points for his career.  His 24 points this season rank fourth on the team.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • SNHU will be the sixth-seed in the upcoming Northeast-10 Championship and will play at #3 Adelphi on Saturday at 1 p.m.   The winner of that game will take on #2 Bentley.  Undefeated Le Moyne College is the top seed and is the unanimous #1 team in Division II (USILA).  The Dolphins will play the winner of #5 Saint Anselm College and #4 Pace.
