Men's Lacrosse Rolls Past AIC 16-8

Penmen Win Second Straight Saturday

Graduate student Chris Valentine (Derry, N.H.) matched a season-high with four goals and senior Ryan Auger (Hampstead, N.H.) had a goal and four assists as SNHU won its second straight, 16-8, at American International College Saturday.
 
Junior Cody Fleming (Plaistow, N.H.) scored a career-high four goals as men's lacrosse defeated Assumption University 11-6 in an NE10 game on Wednesday night at Mark A. Ouellette Stadium.

  • Senior Gennaro Marra (Hampstead, N.H.) – 20-27 faceoffs, 15 ground balls
  • Junior Ronan DePaul (Elkton, Md.) – 13 saves
KEY MOMENTS
  • Valentine scored twice in the first 3:02 as the Penmen built an early 2-0 lead.
  • Junior Cody Fleming (Plaistow, N.H.) scored from Auger at 7:04 to make it 3-0.
  • Morrissette followed with his first goal of the game, assisted by junior Joseph Bodi (Nashua, N.H.).
  • Goals by Krtuz, Pietz, and Auger helped the Penmen build a 7-2 halftime lead.
  • The Yellow Jackets would battle to within 9-6 by the end of the third quarter, and trailed by just two goals at 10-8 when Dylan Seymour scored at 8:10 of the fourth.
  • The Penmen then kicked into gear, scoring the final six goals of the game, two by Valentine, two by Terrones, one by Morrissette, and one by freshman Clayton Billingkoff (North Attleboro, Mass.).
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The Penmen outshot the Yellow Jackets 56-30, and won 32 ground balls to 16.
  • SNHU won 21 of the 28 faceoffs, and were successful on 19 of 20 clears.
  • AIC turned it over 16 times, SNHU had 14.
  • The Penmen were 1-3 in man-up situations while AIC was 0-3.
  • Jason Vickery had three goals for the Yellow Jackets.
NOTES
  • SNHU leads the all-time series with the Yellow Jackets, 22-2, including wins in the last 12 meetings.
  • The goals by Morrissette and Billingkoff were the first of their careers.
  • DePaul played most of the game, but sophomore Patrick Cassidy (Chelmsford, Mass.) did see his first action of the season in the fourth quarter.
  • 16 goals were a season-high for the Penmen.

  • SNHU will play at The College of Saint Rose on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Albany, N.Y.
  • The next home game will be Wednesday, April 19 when the Penmen meet Franklin Pierce University at 4:00 p.m. at Dr. Mark A. Ouellette Stadium.
