Adriana Timberlake (Braintree, Mass.) scored a game-high 23 points and moved into fifth-place on the program's all-time scoring list, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team suffered a 53-46 defeat against the College of Saint Rose on Tuesday evening to see its four-game winning streak halted at Nolan Gymnasium.

KEY MOMENTS
- In a first quarter that saw the lead change hands three times, Southern New Hampshire scored six of the final eight points to take a 16-11 lead.
- A Timberlake 3-pointer just over a minute-and-a-half into the second quarter sparked a 10-2 run that opened a 26-13 advantage for the Penmen with 6:17 to play before the break. Timberlake had six points during the stretch. Saint Rose closed the opening half with a 9-2 blitz that slashed its deficit to 28-22.
- After a triple from graduate student Macy Spinks (Luton, United Kingdom) put SNHU up nine just 30 seconds into the third quarter, the Golden Knights ripped off a 23-6 run that put them on top, 45-37, going to the final frame.
- Saint Rose grabbed its largest lead of the night at 47-37 less than a minute in, but a 9-2 spurt – with the final five points coming from Timberlake – pulled the Penmen within one possession at 49-46 with 3:54 remaining. SNHU would not score again, however, as the Golden Knights netted the final four points to seal the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Senior Jess Knight (Hanover, Mass.) posted five points (1-9 FG, 3-4 FT), eight rebounds and two assists.
- Spinks tallied five points (2-6 FG, 1-3 3-FG), four assists and a pair of rebounds.
- Junior Sydnie DeVries (Monson, Mass.) grabbed seven boards.
- Freshman Abby Wager (Mansfield Mass.) chipped in three points (1-8 FG, 1-3 3-FG), three steals and two rebounds.
- Saint Rose outshot Southern New Hampshire, 37 percent (20-54) to 26.3 percent (15-57), while SNHU returned the favor from beyond the arc, 40.9 percent (9-22) to 26.7 percent (4-15). The Penmen were also better from the line, 87.5 percent (7-8) to 75 percent (9-12).
- The Penmen recorded more points on the fast break (14-3) and turned in a better assist-to-turnover ratio (13/13-11/14), while the Golden Knights captured the glass (41-36) and the paint (28-10), scored more points off turnovers (14-8) and second chance points (6-1), and received more scoring from their bench (6-3).
NOTES
- Southern New Hamphire, receiving votes in the latest Division II College Sports Communicators (D2CSC) Media Poll, had won six of its last seven contests, including four straight.
- The Penmen fall a game behind Bentley University (9-1) in the NE10 standings and into a second-place tie with Saint Rose.
- Saint Rose ties the all-time series, 17-17, but SNHU had won 12 of the last 15 meetings, including seven straight. The last time the Golden Knights had defeated the Penmen was Jan. 17, 2018 (69-66) at home.
- Gordon's double-double is the seventh of her career and fifth of the season.
- Timberlake continues to climb the all-time scoring list, passing Jen Ryan (1993-97; 1,360) for fifth place with 1,366 points.
- SNHU is now 53-19 (.736) since the start of the 2021-22 season, including 28-9 (.757) away from the Stan Spirou Field House.
WHAT'S NEXT
- The Penmen return to action Saturday, Jan. 20 (1:30 p.m.) when they take on Assumption University.
- The next home contest for SNHU is Wednesday, Jan. 24 (5:30 p.m.) when it plays host to cross-town rival Saint Anselm College at the Stan Spirou Field House in a game that will air live on WGIR 610-AM and Fox Sports New Hampshire 930-AM.
