Senior Julia Cavalcanti (Vineyard, Utah) recorded nine kills, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Pace University on Tuesday evening at the Goldstein Fitness Center.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Cavalcanti – 9 kills, .333 hitting, 4 aces, 4 digs
  • Sophomore Elsa Gilmore (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) – 8 kills
  • Senior Eyleen Dias (Plymouth, Mass.) – 12 digs
KEY MOMENTS
  • Pace jumped out to a 14-5 lead to begin the opening set and later used a 9-4 run to go back up big, 24-13.
  • The Setters held to a 9-8 edge in the second set before seven straight ballooned the advantage to 16-8. A 5-1 spurt made it 22-13 and then three of the final four points capped the set.
  • Southern New Hampshire led, 22-18, but Pace scored four straight, as part of a match-clinching 7-1 rush.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Set scores were 25-15, 25-17, 25-23.
  • Senior Deanne Wilson (Buffalo, N.Y.) tallied four kills, a pair of aces, four digs and two blocks.
  • Junior Caelan Cook (Indian Harbour Beach, Fla.) notched four kills, three digs and a pair of blocks.
  • Freshman Addie Garn (Gilbert, Ariz.) registered 14 assists and five digs.
  • Junior Ella Koelb (Auburn, N.H.) dished 12 helpers.
  • Sophomore Angela Mateos (Seville, Spain) added two kills and four blocks.
  • Junior Laura Haas (Londonderry, N.H.) chipped in eight digs and an ace.
  • Pace outhit SNHU in all three sets, as well as .234-.054, overall.
  • The Penmen held a 3-1 edge in aces, while the Setters owned an 11-8 advantage in blocks.
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire has now split its last four matches.
  • SNHU leads the all-time series, 13-11, but sees its five-match winning streak versus Pace snapped. The Penmen had also won two straight at Pace, with the win being the Setters' first at home against the Penmen since Oct. 21, 2017 (3-0).

  • The Penmen return to action Friday, Nov. 1 (7 p.m.) when they play host to Southern Connecticut State University on Senior Night at the Stan Spirou Field House.
