Sophomore Angela Mateos (Seville, Spain) registered 14 kills to help lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team to a 3-1 victory against cross-town rival Saint Anselm College on Tuesday evening at the Stan Spirou Field House.

KEY MOMENTS
- The opening set was tied, 16-16, when three kills from Mateos and a pair from junior Caelan Cook (Indian Harbour Beach, Fla.) powered a 7-1 rush that put Southern New Hampshire up, 23-17. After Saint Anselm rattled off three straight, SNHU scored the final two, including a set-clinching ace from Dias.
- The Penmen built a 12-4 lead early, but Saint Anselm would climb back within 20-17 late. SNHU notched five of the final eight points to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
- The third set was even at 17-all when the Hawks tallied seven straight as part of a set-ending 8-1 blitz that forced a fourth set.
- In the fourth, three kills from Mateos buoyed an important 9-2 flurry that gave SNHU a 12-6 advantage and the Penmen would not look back.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Set scores were 25-20, 25-20, 18-25, 25-19.
- Cook notched five kills, two blocks and two digs.
- Junior Laura Haas (Londonderry, N.H.) recorded a pair of aces and 12 digs.
- SNHU outhit Saint Anselm in three of the four sets, as well as .258-.191, overall.
- The Penmen held advantages in aces (10-8) and block (7-5).
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire has won four of its last six and moved into sixth place in the NE10 standings.
- SNHU leads the all-time series, 33-29. Saint Anselm has won 10 of the last 18 meetings, but SNHU has also captured seven of the last nine tilts dating back to 2021, including a 3-0 road victory back on Oct. 1. The Penmen have defeated the Hawks in three of their last four at home.
- SNHU earns a point in the Queen City Cup standings and leads Saint Anselm, 15-5, in the season-long battle for Manchester supremacy.
