Martin Zapata (Pamplona, Spain) tallied a goal and an assist to lead the fifth-ranked and top-seeded Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team to a 2-1 triumph over the second-seeded University of New Haven in the NE10 Championship title match Saturday evening at Ouellette Stadium.

- Southern New Hampshire went in front, 1-0, just 7:34 into the contest when Zapata cleaned up a mess off a scrum in front of the net.
- The Penmen then used crisp passing to double their lead early in the 36th minute, with Preus being the benefactor after he ripped a shot top-shelf from the middle of the box.
- The score stayed 2-0 into the 80th minute when Oskar Kvarnback put New Haven on the board.

- Southern New Hampshire, ranked fifth in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25, is unbeaten in 14 of its last 15 (12-1-2) and six straight (4-0-2).
- SNHU improves to 28-10-7 (.693) all-time in 24 appearances in the NE10 Championship, including 1-0-0 against New Haven, which was making just its third appearance in the NE10 postseason. Southern New Hampshire captures its league-best eighth NE10 crown and first since 2015.
- The Penmen were playing in their 10th NE10 final, including for the second straight season. SNHU improves to 8-2 (.800) all-time in the conference title match.
- Zapata was named the Most Outstanding Player at the 2024 NE10 Championship and was joined on the All-Championship Team by Evans and senior back Liam Evans (Rock Hill, N.Y.).
