Sophomore Martin Zapata (Pamplona, Spain) tallied a goal and an assist to lead the fifth-ranked and top-seeded Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team to a 2-1 triumph over the second-seeded University of New Haven in the NE10 Championship title match Saturday evening at Ouellette Stadium.

  • Southern New Hampshire went in front, 1-0, just 7:34 into the contest when Zapata cleaned up a mess off a scrum in front of the net.
  • The Penmen then used crisp passing to double their lead early in the 36th minute, with Preus being the benefactor after he ripped a shot top-shelf from the middle of the box.
  • The score stayed 2-0 into the 80th minute when Oskar Kvarnback put New Haven on the board.
