Ray Daniels (Las Vegas, Nev.) scored a team-high 24 points, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's basketball team rallied back in the second half, sparking the Penmen to an exciting, 79-77 win in its home opener Saturday at the Stan Spirou Field House.

KEY MOMENTS
- During the first half, Bloomfield guard Zamorian Singleton made two consecutive jump shots to give Bloomfield the largest lead of the contest at 41-32 with 2:16 to play. In the final minute-and-a-half, senior Jhamyl Fricas (Lawrence, Mass.) drained a 3-pointer and Henderson went end-to-end to drop in a layup to beat the buzzer and make it a one-possession game at 43-40 at the break.
- The Bears jumped ahead after a quick start to the second half, going up by as many as seven at 50-43 less than 90 seconds in. The Penmen, however, ripped off seven straight as part of a 20-8 rush that was capped with a Henderson 3-pointer that put SNHU up, 63-58, near the midway point of the stanza.
- With the Penmen holding a narrow, one-point lead in the final seconds, Daniels blocked a shot to preserve the lead and get the ball back for the hosts. Following a foul with 0.5 seconds on the clock, Henderson would sink one of two at the line and Bloomfield's three-quarter-court pass was knocked out of bounds to seal it.

- Senior Noah Harris (Manalapan, N.J.) recorded nine points (3-9 FG, 3-8 3-FG) and two rebounds.
- Fricas tallied three points (1-2 FG, 1-1 3-FG).
- Bloomfield outshot SNHU 50 percent (33-66) to 43.8 percent (28-64), while the Penmen held the advantage beyond the arc, 40.7 percent (11-27) to 28.6 percent (6-21). The Penmen were 70.6 percent (12-17) at the line, while the Bears shot just 55.9 percent (5-9) on free throws.
- Things were almost even on the glass, where the Bears held a 37-36 edge. The Bears held the advantage on points in the paint (42-32), second chance points (10-8) and bench scoring (25-3). SNHU led in points off turnovers (9-6) and assist-to-turnover ratio (11/6-13/10). Fast break points were even at seven points for each team.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire bounced back from two close losses at the Tournament of Heroes, which was hosted by College of Staten Island last week. The Penmen now sport a 1-2 record to start the season.
- SNHU improves to 7-1 all-time against Bloomfield. The Penmen have won five straight games, a streak spanning back to Dec. 16, 2016. Ths was the first meeting between the two teams since SNHU ended Bloomfield's season with a 75-70 win in the opening round of the NCAA Championship back on March 16. The two-point margin of victory marks the closest a contest between the two teams has ever finished.
