Sophomore Abby Wager (Mansfield, Mass.) and sophomore Ava Winterburn (New Boston, N.H.) combined to score 31 points, but the Southern New Hampshire women's basketball team fell, 73-59, at host Dominican (N.Y.) University in the 11th annual Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament.

KEY MOMENTS
  • A 3-point field goal by Winterburn gave the Penmen a 3-2 lead with 9:33 to play in the first half, but Dominican answered with a 15-2 run and did not trail the remainder of the game.
  • The Penmen fell behind by 16 points before Wager scored a three-point play for her first basket of the game with 7:57 to play in the second quarter.
  • Dominican led 39-27 at halftime and 57-43 after three quarters.
  • Winterburn hit four field goals, including two 3-pointers, in the fourth quarter for SNHU.

  • Junior Matilde Baron (Vicenza, Italy) netted five points (1-6 FG, 3-4 FT), dished out two assists and grabbed three rebounds.
  • Senior Sydnie DeVries (Monson, Mass.) tallied four points (2-4 FG), 10 boards, and four assists.
  • Freshman Samantha Pfeil (Methuen, Mass.) added four points (1-4 FG, 1-3 3-FG, 1-2 FT) and graduate student Stephanie Davis (Windham, N.H.) had two points (1-3 FG).
  • SNHU shot 22-for-60 (36.7%), including 6-21 (28.6%) from beyond the arc, and 9-for-13 (69.2%) on free throws.
  • The Chargers went 25-for-78 (32.1%). They hit 11 of 34 3-pointers (32.4%) and went 12-of-14 (85.7%) from the line.
  • The Penmen won the glass (49-46) and points in the point (24-20), while the Chargers scored more points off turnovers (29-4) and had more second-chance points (16-13).
NOTES
  • Dominican leads the all-time series with the Penmen 2-1. This was the first meeting between the teams in Orangeburg, N.Y.
  • Winterburn now has her first two double-digit scoring performances of her career in the opening three games of her sophomore campaign.
  • SNHU is now 61-28 (.685) since the start of the 2021-22 season.

  • The Penmen will meet Caldwell University on Sunday at noon on the second day of the Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament.
