Sydnie DeVries (Monson, Mass.) scored 12, both career-highs, as SNHU women's basketball held off Caldwell University 76-73 Sunday afternoon. The game was played at Dominican (N.Y.) as part of their 11
th annual Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament.

KEY MOMENTS
- Davis had two field goals and three free throws for seven points and the Penmen led 24-18 at the end of the first quarter.
- SNHU did not trail in the second quarter, hitting 8-for-14 in the period, and holding an 8-4 rebounding edge to take a 42-35 lead to the locker room.
- A layup by Sophie Demauro and a three-pointer by Jah'Nel Lewis (26 points) gave the Cougars a 59-55 lead with 7:04 to play in the fourth quarter.
- Davis followed with a three-pointer and a lay-up, and Hughes hit a jumper to push the Penmen back into the lead at 62-61.
- There would be four lead changes over the final five minutes with the Penmen taking the lead at 74-73 on a layup by Hughes with 58 seconds to go.
- Gordon added a layup to make it 76-73.
- The Penmen kept Caldwell off the board for the final 1:09 of the game to secure the win.

- Freshman Samantha Pfeil (Methuen, Mass.) – 5 points (2-4 FG, 1-2 3-FG), 1 rebound
- Sophomore Ava Winterburn (New Boston, N.H.) – 4 points (2-7 FG, 0-2 3- FG), career-high 8 rebounds, 1 assist.
- Junior Matilde Baron (Vicenza, Italy) netted four points (2-2 FG).
- SNHU shot 28-for-57 (49.1%) including 7-17 (41.2%) from beyond the arc and 13-15 (86.7%) on free throws.
- The Cougars went 28-for-68 (41.2%). They hit 10 of 34 three-pointers (29.4%) and went 7-of-13 (53.8%) from the line.
- The Penmen won the glass (39-32) and points in the point (38-26). SNHU had 13 second-chance points while Caldwell had 8. The Cougars had a 14-13 advantage on points off turnovers.
- SNHU had a 25-7 edge on bench points.
- The biggest lead for either team was nine points when SNHU was up 37-28 midway through the second quarter. There were five ties.
NOTES
- Davis had a previous career-high of 14 points last year while playing for Longwood University.
- DeVries had previously scored nine points twice in a game, both last season.
- SNHU leads the all-time series with Caldwell 3-1. This was the first meeting between the programs since December 21, 2014, and also a win for the Penmen.
- SNHU is now 62-28 (.689) since the start of the 2021-22 season.

- The Penmen will play its first Northeast-10 Conference game on Tuesday (Nov. 20) at Southern Connecticut State University. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
