Penmen collect their 10th NCAA tournament berth

INDIANAPOLIS – The Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team gathered its 10th selection to the NCAA Championship tournament – and seventh straight – when the NCAA Selection Committee announced its field of 56 teams Monday evening.

Southern New Hampshire (9-1-6), which earned an at-large bid, receives the East Region's No. 3 seed and will take on sixth-seeded Molloy University (12-4-2) in a first-round match Friday, Nov. 22 (12 p.m.) at Franklin Pierce University, which is one of two hosts of the East Regional. The contests will take place at Sodexo Field in Rindge, N.H.. The Penmen and Lions will be meeting for the first time.

The winner of the SNHU/Molloy match will meet the winner of second-seeded Franklin Pierce (16-3-1) and seventh-seeded Wilmington (Del.) University on Sunday, Nov. 24 (3 p.m.). The winner from that match will take on the remaining team from the Adelphi University side of the bracket at the highest remaining seed in the third round on Sunday, Dec. 1.

The winner of the East Region will host the winner of the Atlantic Region in the quarterfinal round Saturday, Dec. 7, while the semifinals and final will be played Dec. 12 and 14 at the Matthews Sportsplex in Matthews, N.C., hosted by Wingate University.

SNHU will be making its 10th appearance, overall, in the NCAA Championship and carries in an all-time record of 2-6-3 (.318). The Penmen are 0-3-0 all-time in the NCAA postseason against Franklin Pierce, with two of the three meetings taking place in Rindge. SNHU and Wilmington have never met in the NCAA Championship.
