Junior Ray Daniels (Las Vegas, Nev.) netted 17 points and senior Paul Greene (Freeport, Bahamas) registered yet another double-double, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's basketball team posted an 84-66 victory against Franklin Pierce University on Saturday at the Stan Spirou Field House

 KEY MOMENTS
  • Franklin Pierce went ahead, 12-5, in the opening four-and-half minutes and led by as many as seven in the first half. It was a six-point game near the midway point of the stanza when a 10-2 run – led by five from Henderson – put Southern New Hampshire on top, 28-26, with 8:07 remaining. SNHU would score the final five points of the half, including a Henderson 3-pointer, that sent the hosts to the break with a 40-34 advantage.
  • Senior Derrick Grant Jr. (Piscataway, N.J.) and Harris knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers to open the second half and carry an 8-2 spurt that stretched the SNHU lead to 48-36 less than two minutes in. An 11-2 counter-run pulled Franklin Pierce within one at 54-53 with just under 13 minutes remaining, but the Penmen all but put it away with a 17-4 burst – with the final eight coming from Daniels – that opened up a 71-57 advantage with 6:17 remaining. Six straight down the stretch, including four from freshman Dante Green (Dix Hills, N.Y.), gave SNHU its largest lead of the contest at 84-64.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Senior Jhamyl Fricas (Lawrence, Mass.) scored a season-high eight points (3-7 FG, 2-6 3-FG) in 14 minutes off the bench.
  • Grant Jr. notched seven points (2-3 FG, 1-2 3-FG, 2-2 FT).
  • Junior Royce Williams (Manchester, N.H.) added five points (2-5 FG, 1-2 3-FG) and two rebounds.
  • Green netted an efficient four points (2-2 FG).
  • Senior Brenden Choate (Nashua, N.H.) tallied two points (1-1 FG), six rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals.
  • Senior Jordan Brathwaite (Silver Springs, Md.) chipped in two points (2-3 FT) and two rebounds.
  • Southern New Hampshire outshot Franklin Pierce, 50 percent (31-62) to 42.6 percent (26-61), including 33.3 percent (10-30) to 31.6 percent (6-19) from long range. The Penmen also shot it better at the stripe, 80 percent (12-15) to 53.3 percent (8-15).
  • The Penmen captured the glass (40-29) and the paint (40-34), scored more points off turnovers (22-17) and on the fast break (17-8), received more scoring from their bench (17-8) and submitted a better assist-to-turnover ratio (15/16-8/17), while the Ravens scored more second chance points (11-5).
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire has captured five of its last six, including four straight.
  • SNHU leads the all-time series with Franklin Pierce, 77-30, and has won seven-in-a-row. The last FPU win came Dec. 4, 2021 in an 87-83 home overtime win. The Penmen have also won 10 of their last 11, including five-in-a-row at home against the Ravens. The last time the Ravens were victorious at SNHU was Jan. 8, 2020 (91-86).
  • Greene's double-double is his eighth of the season and of his career.
  • Greene is averaging 14.3 rebounds per game through the first eight contests of year – tops in the nation.
  • Over the six seasons of head coach Jack Perri's tenure, the Penmen are 51-19 (.729) at home, including 4-0 this season.
