Amelia Freitas (Plymouth, Mass.) all turned in strong pitching performances, as the Southern New Hampshire University softball team collected two more wins Friday in a doubleheader sweep of Holy Family University. The Penmen edged the Tigers, 3-2, in nine innings in game one, before posting a 9-2 victory in the second game.

GAME 1: SNHU 3-2 (9 INN.)
- Gifford put the Penmen on top, 1-0, on an RBI single to right-center in the top of the first inning.
- That run stood up all the way into the bottom of the seventh, when Holy Family forced extra innings with a one-out, run-scoring single.
- SNHU went back in front in the eighth when a two-out error allowed an unearned run to score, but a two-out base knock by Holy Family in the home half brought in a run to tie the game, 2-2.
- The Penmen finally won it in the ninth on a sacrifice fly to center off the bat of senior Alyssa DiMauro (Chester, N.H.), with Donovan nailing down the victory with a 1-2-3 home half.
NOTES:
- McKechnie received a no-decision, but lowered her ERA to 1.98.
- The win for Donovan (1-0) was the first of her career in what is the longest of her five outings.
- Feldman finished 3-for-4 and scored a run.
- Gifford (RBI, run), Dickinson, Donovan and sophomore Abby Lineman (Doylestown, Pa.) were all 1-for-4.
- Lineman and DiMauro had their on-base streaks ended at eight games.
GAME 2: SNHU 9-2
- Gifford again propelled Southern New Hampshire to an early lead with a two-run single to center in the top of the first. SNHU doubled its lead to 4-0 with a pair in the third that included a Lineman sac fly.
- Two more in the sixth, with a sac fly by senior Ari Ferrier (Middleboro, Mass.) bringing in the second run, made it 6-0.
- Holy Family would answer with two in the bottom of the sixth, but a three-run homer to left from Bruggeman in the seventh put the game out of reach.
NOTES:
- Southern New Hampshire has captured eight of its last 10 and seven of its last eight, including three straight.
- SNHU leads the all-time series with Holy Family, 3-1.
- Freitas (3-3) retired 12-in-a-row from the second to the sixth inning, with 1-2-3 frames in the third, fourth and fifth.
- The Penmen racked up 13 hits, with five batters collecting two.
- Feldman (two runs, walk) and junior Jordyn Resetar (Hanover, Pa.) were both 2-for-3.
- Gifford (two RBI, run), Dickinson (two runs) and DiMauro (run) were all 2-for-4.
- Ferrier was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
- Bruggeman (three RBI, run, home run) and Donovan (run) finished 1-for-4.
- Lineman went 0-for-3 with an RBI to see her hit streak snapped at nine games.
- Feldman ran her on-base streak to 10 games.
- The team batting average is at .302 with 120 hits in 398 at-bats. The Penmen have hit 10 home runs with Lineman (4) and Bruggeman (4) leading the way.
