Bella Dickinson (Scarborough, Maine) highlighted Saturday's doubleheader sweep for softball at Southern Connecticut State. The Penmen won 8-7 and 11-3.

GAME 1: SNHU 8-7
- The Penmen rallied from down 4-0 with seven runs in the top of the third inning.
- In the third, sophomore Abby Lineman (Doylestown, Pa.) had an RBI groundout, Bruggeman knocked in a run with a double, and Resetar hit a two-run homer.
- Bruggeman knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning which proved important when the Owls rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning.
- McKechnie earned the win in the circle with her four innings of relief, picking up a key strikeout with two on base to finish the game.
GAME 2: SNHU 11-3 (6 inn.)
- The Penmen scored a pair of runs in the top of the second on singles by Johnson and Feldman.
- Johnson's RBI single in the top of the fourth inning made it 3-1, but the Owls scored a pair in the bottom of the inning to tie the game.
- SNHU scored eight times in the top of the sixth inning to pull away. After Feldman reached on an error to make it 4-3, Dickinson hit a grand slam.
- Resetar singled to make it 9-3, and the Penmen scored a pair of runs on fielder's choice plays by Johnson and senior Ari Ferrier (Middleboro, Mass.).
- Junior Amelia Freitas (Plymouth, Mass.) started in the circle (3.0 IP - 1 ER) and Colbert pitched the final three innings for the win.
NOTES:
- The Penmen have won seven of the last eight games to move into fourth place in the Northeast-10.
- Colbert earned her sixth win but saw her scoreless inning streak snapped at 18.1 innings when Nadia Cestar of the Owls doubled in two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
- McKechnie also won her sixth game of 2024, giving her 26 for her career.
- Dickinson knocked in a season-high four runs, and Johnson matched her career total with three RBIs in the second game.
- SNHU's .285 team batting average ranks fifth-best in the NE10.
- Southern Connecticut leads the all-time series 46-21-1, but the Penmen have won four of five.
WHAT'S NEXT
- The Penmen will play a doubleheader at the University of New Haven on Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
- The next home games at the SNHU Softball Field will be next Wednesday, April 17 against Bentley University. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
