SNHU picks up road win Saturday in Rindge

Graduate student Cam Cote (Saco, Maine) scored a goal and collected five ground balls and freshman Ryan Lynch (Derry, N.H.) scored three times as SNHU picked up a road win over Franklin Pierce 11-10 on Saturday afternoon.

KEY MOMENTS
  • After exchanging goals in a 2-2 first quarter, the Penmen ran off three consecutive goals and led 6-4 at halftime.
  • Freshman Patrick Roy (North Andover, Mass.) scored the first goal for SNHU with 4:29 left in the first quarter.
  • Goals by senior Cody Fleming (Plaistow, N.H.), Krutz, Terrones, and Auger gave the Penmen a 5-2 lead.
  • Cote's goal came with the Penmen down a man with 3:36 to play in the second quarter and made it 6-3.
  • Franklin Pierce scored three consecutive goals, and when Conor Rooney scored at 4:32 of the third quarter, the contest was even at six goals apiece.
  • Lynch scored twice within 21 seconds to answer the Raven run and put SNHU up 8-6.
  • Two more Franklin Pierce goals tied the game at 8-8.
  • Sophomore Matt Antonetti (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Terrones scored before the end of the third quarter for a 10-9 lead.
  • Lynch made it 11-9 with an unassisted goal with 10:11 to play.
  • Dan Cohen scored with 29 seconds left in the game for Franklin Pierce to make it 11-10.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The Penmen got off 55 shots to 35 for Franklin Pierce.
  • Each team had 17 turnovers and went 1-for-4 in extra-man opportunities.
  • SNHU finished 19-for-21 on its clear attempts while the Ravens were 24-for-27.
  • The Penmen had a 39-24 advantage on ground balls and won 17 of 23 face-offs.
  • Senior Ronan DePaul (Elkton, Md.) has started all 12 games in goal for the Penmen.   He made 11 saves.
  • In his first career game, sophomore John Batchelor (Longmeadow, Mass.) played the fourth quarter in goal, making two saves.
NOTES
  • The Penmen lead the all-time series 23-4 which includes wins in five straight, all by one goal.   The last seven SNHU wins in the series have been by one.
  • Cote's short-handed goal was the first of the season for the Penmen.
  • Lynch (28) and Auger (23) lead the Penmen in goals scored.  Auger also has 28 assists for 51 points which is a new season-high.  He scored 50 points last year and 48 in 2022, his first season with SNHU.
