#11 Pace Hands Men's Lacrosse 18-10 Setback

Auger, Dwyer Score Three Goals Each for the Penmen Saturday

Freshman Sean Dwyer (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) and graduate student Ryan Auger (Hampstead, N.H.) each scored three goals, but Men's Lacrosse fell 18-10 at #11 Pace University in Northeast-10 action Saturday in Pleasantville, N.Y.

  • Dwyer – 3 goals, 1 assist, 2 ground balls
  • Freshman Ryan Lynch (Derry, N.H.) – 1 goal, 2 assists, 3 ground balls
  • Senior Ronan DePaul (Elkton, Md.) – 11 saves, 6 ground balls
  • Graduate student Gennaro Marra (Hampstead, N.H.) – 15-28 face-offs, 10 ground balls
  • Graduate student Cam Cote (Saco, Maine) – 4 ground balls, 4 caused turnovers
KEY MOMENTS
  • Colin Reese opened the scoring for the Setters just 1:11 into the game, and Pace scored the first three goals for a 3-0 lead.
  • Senior Jack Terrones (Anaheim, Calif.) scored off a rebound of his own shot to put the Penmen on the board with 9:04 to play in the first quarter.
  • The Setters scored the next four goals before Dwyer's first of the game made it 7-2 with 9:52 left in the second. 
  • SNHU scored three straight late in the second period to trim the lead to 9-5. 
  • Another deep blast from Dwyer found the net off a pass from Auger.
  • A deep pass from DePaul led graduate student Eric Bua Jr. (Revere, Mass.)  to a goal with 1:38 left in the half.   Bua was fouled on the shot creating a power-play opportunity for Auger for another goal.
  • Junior Christian Perez (Methuen, Mass.) scored the first of five Penmen goals in the second half off a pass from Auger with 11:43 to play in the third quarter.
  • Goals by Auger, Dwyer, and Lynch made it 12-9.  Dwyer and Lynch both scored in man-up situations.
  • Auger scored the final goal for the Penmen with 10:36 to play in the fourth to make it 16-10.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Pace had a 45-33 shot advantage.
  • The Penmen had 23 turnovers while Pace had 18.
  • SNHU was 19-for-27 on clears and Pace was 26-for-30.
  • Pace had a 50-40 edge on ground balls.
  • The Penmen went 16-14 on face-offs.
  • SNHU was 3-for-4 when man-up and Pace was 1-for-2.
NOTES
  • Pace takes a 17-7 lead in the all-time series which dates back to 2001.  The Setters have won six straight.
  • Perez scored his first goal of the season and second of his career.
  • This was the fourth time this season Auger has scored at least three goals, and his 41 points (18 goals, 23 assists) lead the Penmen.
  • Dwyer scored a career-high three goals and four points.
  • Lynch is the top goal-scorer for the Penmen with 20.
