The fifth-seeded Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team was handed a 4-0 loss by top-seeded Queens (N.Y.) College in the NCAA Championship Round of 32 on Tuesday afternoon at the QC Tennis Bubble.
NOTES
- Despite losing the doubles point, the Penmen were close to capturing it. After winning at No. 1, Queens clinched the doubles point at No. 3 when Tim Andersson and Francisco Gonzalez edged out senior Aron Ouwejan (Wervershoof, Netherlands) and sophomore Melvin Vix (Thionville, France), 7-6 (7-3). Freshman Jaden Williams (Green Acres, Fla.) and sophomore Phillipp Roeder (Aystetten, Germany) were up, 6-5, at No. 2 versus Lucas Foix Sotos and Cameron Henricy Trigolos.
- Junior Jonathan Berling (Moss, Norway), SNHU's typical No. 1, missed his second straight match due to injury.
- Southern New Hampshire had won eight of 10 and four of five.
- The Penmen, making their 11th appearance in the NCAA Championship, including third straight, dip to 4-11 (.267) all-time in the NCAA postseason.
- Queens leads the all-time series with the Penmen, 7-4, but breaks up a four-match winning streak for SNHU. This was the first win for the Knights since Feb. 9, 2018 (6-3) in Flushing.
