HOOKSETT, N.H. – Sophomore Marcos Castaneda (Madrid, Spain) pulled out a three-set victory at No. 6 singles to bring the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team within 3-2, but Adelphi University followed with a pair of three-set wins to score a 5-2 triumph Saturday evening at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts.
KEY MOMENT
- SNHU trailed, 3-1, when Castaneda posted a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 victory against Leo Silverston at No. 6 singles.
NOTES
- Sophomore Sebastian Eckert (Wernigerode, Germany) and freshman Tristan Chandler (APO, Armed Forces-Europe) combined for a 6-1 No. 3 doubles win against Spyridon Papageorgiou and Elouan Boyer.
- Sophomore Vicente Preto (Sesimbra, Portugal) claimed a 6-2, 6-2 No. 1 singles win over Viktor Hockl.
- SNHU continues to lead the all-time series with the Panthers, 11-10. However, Adelphi has now won seven of the last eight, including six straight. SNHU's last win in the series came April 20, 2023 in a 4-1 NE10 Championship semifinal road victory. The Penmen have also dropped four-in-a-row at home, last winning there April 28, 2022 in a 4-1 NE10 semifinal win.
