KEY MOMENTS
- Southern New Hampshire scored the first five points of the game and jumped out to an 11-4 lead over the opening 3:11, led by six points from Hughes. Adelphi, however, scored 18 straight over the final 5:34 of the frame to seize a 22-11 lead at the end of one.
- Davis snapped a scoreless stretch of 7:06 with a layup just 19 seconds into the second quarter that sparked a 10-0 run – with six points from Gordon and four from Davis – to pull the Penmen within 22-21 with 6:08 to go in the half. The Panthers would run their lead back up to 30-21 less than 90 seconds later, but a 9-1 counter-run – with the final four points coming from senior Sydnie DeVries (Monson, Mass.) – slashed the SNHU deficit to one with 44 seconds left. Adelphi would bring a 34-31 edge to the break.
- The Panthers would grab their largest lead of the contest at 48-36 with 4:04 remaining in the third, but five from Gordon and three from DeVries powered an 8-2 run to trim the visitor's deficit to 50-44 after three.
- The Penmen were staring at a six-point deficit with less than three minutes to play in regulation when a 3-pointer from freshman Samantha Pfeil (Methuen, Mass.) and a bucket from Davis brought SNHU within 57-56 with 2:06 left. The Penmen would send it to OT with a free throw with six seconds to go.
- Each team only scored two points in the first overtime, with Adelphi having a look at a jumper as time expired that did not go.
- The Panthers built a six-point lead in the second extra session, but a triple from freshman Taylor Brennan (Southbury, Conn.) and a pair of Pfeil free throws with 1:08 on the clock made it a 66-65 game. An Adelphi miss gave the Penmen a crack at the lead, but a turnover handed the ball back to the Panthers with 27 ticks left. They would miss both free throws, giving SNHU one final chance, but a jumper in the final seconds did not fall.
