Freshman Eyglo Armannsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) came away victorious in her third-set tiebreaker at No. 5 singles to lift the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team to a 4-3 victory Saturday afternoon a three-hour and 45-minute marathon at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts.
KEY MOMENT
- After Franklin Pierce rallied from a 3-1 deficit to even the match, Armannsdottir dropped the first set of her No. 5 singles match to Candela Tortosa, 5-7, but then bounced back with a 7-5 win in the second and sent the Penmen to victory with a 7-6 (7-5) triumph in the deciding frame.
NOTES
- SNHU has now won three straight.
- Junior Nadya Lyekontseva (Kyiv, Ukraine) improved to 5-1 in singles action this season.
- The Penmen are now 23-6 all-time against Franklin Pierce and have won six straight. The last Ravens win came in the NE10 Championship semifinals on Oct. 22, 2021 at SNHU (4-0). The Penmen have also won five of their last six, including four-in-a-row, at home in the series.
