Women's Tennis Caps Fall Slate with 6-1 Victory Over Bentley

Penmen will head into the spring tied for second in the NE10 standings

Junior Dajana Abadzic (Weinstadt, Germany) only lost one game in her singles victory at the top flight to help lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team to a 6-1 triumph over Bentley University on Saturday afternoon at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts.

KEY MOMENT
  • Coming off a win of the doubles point, Abadzic gave the Penmen a 2-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-1 defeat of Catalina Borrero at No. 1 singles.
NOTES
  • SNHU has now won four straight.
  • Abadzic also teamed with sophomore Lois Tsui (Amsterdam, Netherlands) at No. 1 doubles to edge Borrero and Natalia Ponsa, 7-6 (7-5).
  • Junior Nadya Lyekontseva (Kyiv, Ukraine) improved to 6-1 in singles action this season by pulling out a 6-2, 5-7, 10-5 win against Isabella Kaldy at No. 4 singles.
  • SNHU leads the all-time series with Bentley, 20-9, and extends its winning streak to 19, including a 6-1 home win earlier this season on Sept. 13. The last time the Falcons topped the Penmen was April 23, 2009 (5-3) at home. SNHU has also won 10 straight at home in the series.
