The Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team celebrated Senior Day with a 2-0 shutout victory over Southern Connecticut State University in Northeast 10 Conference action Saturday afternoon at Larkin Field.
The Penmen honored captains Rylee Constant (Bow, N.H.), Jade Hendriks (Huissen, Netherlands), and Minke van de Poll (Oosterbeek, Netherlands) prior to the game for their leadership and contributions to the program.
KEY MOMENT
After a scoreless first half, van de Poll broke the deadlock just 1:51 into the third quarter, tallying her seventh goal of the season to give SNHU a 1-0 lead. Kim Dull (Wilnis, Netherlands) doubled the advantage eight minutes later with her seventh of the year to make it 2-0.
NOTES·
- van de Poll's goal stood as her second game-winner of the season, giving her seven for her career, which is tied for third most in program history. She converted a reverse chip after stealing the ball.
- Dull has now recorded two points in seven consecutive games.
- Freshman Agustina Miranda Waigand (Miami, Fla.) earned her fifth shutout and 12th win of the year, stopping six shots. She is tied for second in the Northeast 10 in shutouts.
- SNHU outshot SCSU 23–6, including 10–6 on goal, and held a 9–2 advantage in penalty corners.
- The Penmen have now won seven straight and improved to 8-2 in NE10 play.
- SNHU has won ten consecutive meetings with the Owls, and lead all-time 10-2. The Penmen matched the 2-0 win over SCSU in a non-conference game played on September 10.
