#9 Saint Anselm Tops Penmen 2-0 As Seven-Game Win Streak Is Snapped

The Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team dropped its home finale on Tuesday evening, falling to Saint Anselm College by a 2-0 score in Northeast 10 Conference action at Larkin Field. The matchup served as the Penmen's annual Pink Day contest, raising awareness for breast cancer research.

KEY MOMENT

Just 3:52 into the first quarter, the Hawks struck with a goal from Leila Hartel, seizing the early lead. The visitors sealed the win with a second goal at 40:20 in the third quarter. Despite mounting a late push and outshooting the Hawks, SNHU was unable to break through.

  • Freshman Goaltender Agustina Miranda Waigand (Miami, Fla.) stopped four of the six shots she faced.
  • Junior Jade Hendriks (Jr., Huissen, Netherlands) recorded one defensive save and anchored a back-line effort in the loss.

  • SNHU had a 5-4 edge on penalty corners.
