The matchup served as the Penmen's annual Pink Day contest, raising awareness for breast cancer research.

Just 3:52 into the first quarter, the Hawks struck with a goal from Leila Hartel, seizing the early lead. The visitors sealed the win with a second goal at 40:20 in the third quarter. Despite mounting a late push and outshooting the Hawks, SNHU was unable to break through.
