Jojo Wallace (Milford, Conn.) poured in a game-high 22 points, but the Southern New Hampshire University men's basketball team lost a non-conference match up wth Saint Michael's College, 78-71, Tuesday night at the Ross Sports Center.
KEY MOMENTS
- Saint Michael's led, 44-35, nearly four minutes into the second stanza when a Wallace layup sparked a 13-4 rush that gave SNHU just its second lead of the night at 48-46 with 12:40 remaining. Wallace contributed six points during the run.
- The Purple Knights would eventually regain the lead and were in front, 72-69, with under a minute to go, when a Quintin Floyd 3-pointer proved to be the dagger, as SMC scored six of the final eight points in the contest.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire sees its two-game winning streak come to an end.
- Wallace has scored in double figures in all five games this season and has yet to pile up fewer than 18 points in a contest.
- Wallace was 9-for-23 from the field, including 2-for-7 from behind the arc, and 2-for-3 at the stripe, while adding eight rebounds and three steals.
- Junior Jacari Sanders (San Antonio, Texas) notched 15 points (6-12 FG, 3-4 FT), two rebounds and four steals. He has scored at least 13 points in all five contests this season.
- Senior T.J. Morris (Jamaica, N.Y.) added 13 points (5-11 FG, 3-4 FT), six rebounds and three helpers.
- Senior Ugo Nwachukwu (Imo State, Nigeria) posted 11 points (5-11 FG, 1-2 FT) and seven boards.
- SNHU leads the all-time series with Saint Michael's, 46-16, and has won 21 of the last 26 meetings, including 10 of 12, but has its five-game winning streak snapped. The Penmen had also won seven of the last eight, including six-in-a-row, on the road versus the Purple Knights, who defend their home court against SNHU for the first time since Feb. 6, 2019 (82-72).
