Freshman Aniela Kwo (Haverhill, Mass.) delivered the strongest performance of her young career, finishing with a team-high and career-best 15 points to go along with six rebounds, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team dropped a 70-57 decision to Queens (N.Y.) in non-conference action Wednesday evening.
KEY MOMENTS
  • SNHU led 15-12 after the opening quarter, with Kwo providing a spark off the bench by scoring four quick points in her first shift.
  • The Knights responded with a 25-point second quarter, hitting five three-pointers in the period to seize momentum and take a 37-28 lead into halftime.
  • The Penmen generated a strong stretch in the third, scoring 17 points and cutting the deficit to single digits, but Queens' advantage on the glass (56-39) and a game-high 20 points from Nkiru Awaka helped the Knights stay in control down the stretch.
NOTES
  • Kwo shot an efficient 6-for-8 from the field and added three offensive rebounds in 14 minutes.
  • Graduate forward Sydnie DeVries (Monson, Mass.) posted 13 points, three blocks, eight steals, and two assists.
  • Senior Meghan Gordon (Attleboro, Mass.) contributed eight points, 10 rebounds, and three assists.

  • SNHU forced 24 turnovers, resulting in 19 points, and scored 46 points in the paint.
  • The Penmen did not make a three-pointer, finishing 0-for-22 from long range.
  • This was the first meeting between the two programs since the 2019-20 season, and it was the first time Queens has prevailed in four all-time meetings.
