Season Ends For Men's Soccer in NCAA Semifinals With Loss to Midwestern State

The sixth-ranked and second-seeded Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team, playing in its first NCAA Championship semifinal since 2013, suffered a 3-0 loss against eighth-ranked and third-seeded Midwestern State University on Friday evening at Weidner Field in Colorado Springs, Colo.
KEY MOMENT
  • With the Penmen flying out of the locker room looking to cut into a 2-0 deficit, Midwestern State scored a back-breaker of a goal just 24 seconds into the second stanza to make it 3-0.
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire, ranked sixth in the United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25, had won 13 of its last 15, including 10 of 11 and three straight.
  • Midwestern State, ranked No. 8 in the national poll, has won 14 of 15, including 10-in-a-row. The Mustangs have allowed just three goals during their winning streak.
  • SNHU dips to 24-18-7 (.561) in 25 all-time NCAA Championship appearances, including 0-1 against Midwestern State. It was playing in its fourth semifinal in program history.
  • The Penmen had been 3-0-0 in the 2025 NCAA postseason and entered the match outscoring its opponents, 8-0. 
  • Sophomore Jack Toolin (Bedford, N.H.) brought home the Elite Scholar-Athlete Award, presented to the student-athlete with the highest grade-point average (GPA) at each of the NCAA's Championships. Toolin, an accounting major with a perfect 4.0 GPA, becomes the third SNHU student-athlete to earn the honor and the second from men's soccer, as he joins Brad Campion, who collected the accolade in 2013.
  • The Penmen outshot the Mustangs, 21-7, including 5-4 in shots on target.
  • Graduate student Alvaro Garcia (Castelldefels, Spain) made one save in 81:02 of action. Garcia and the Penmen had their shutout streak halted at 302:18. Senior AJ Deyarmin (Raymond, N.H.) did not face a shot over the final 8:58.
  • This was the first meeting between SNHU and Midwestern State.
  • SNHU is 162-42-29 (.758) over its last 233 matches dating back to the beginning of the 2013 National Championship season.
