Toolin Gathers NCAA Elite Scholar-Athlete Award at Men's Soccer Championship

Sophomore becomes third Penmen across all sports ever to receive the honor

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.  Sophomore Jack Toolin (Bedford, N.H.) of the Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team was the recipient of the Elite Scholar-Athlete award for the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship.

An accounting major with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average (GPA), Toolin received the award just prior to kickoff of SNHU's NCAA national semifinal against Midwestern State University on Dec. 12 at Weidner Field in Colorado Springs.

Toolin becomes the third Penmen, including the second men's soccer student-athlete, to receive the prestigious honor. Men's soccer's Brad Campion won the first award for SNHU in 2013, with men's cross country's Dillon Labonte (Lee, N.H.) impressively capturing the accolade in both 2024 and 2025.

The Elite Scholar-Athlete award recognizes the true essence of student-athletes by honoring the individuals who have reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in their sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among their peers. The Elite Scholar-Athlete award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.

Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above academically who have participated in a sport for at least two years with their school. All ties are broken based on the number of credits completed.

The Penmen wound up falling short of advancing to their fourth national title match, but ended their season as one of three teams in the country left standing.
