Women's Basketball Sends Off 2025 With Convincing New Year’s Eve Win

Senior Meghan Gordon (Attleboro, Mass.) scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team to a 73-47 victory over Molloy University on Wednesday afternoon at Bob Houlihan Gymnasium.
KEY MOMENTS   
  • Southern New Hampshire seized control early, holding Molloy to just three points over the opening six minutes while building an 11-3 lead. The Penmen continued to dictate the pace for the remainder of the first half and took a 49-26 advantage into the locker room.
  • SNHU put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring Molloy 18-10 to stretch the margin to 67-36 before cruising to the New Year's Eve road win.
NOTES
  • Gordon finished 8-for-12 from the field and added seven rebounds, four assists, a block and a steal in 22 minutes of action.
  • Junior Ava Winterburn (New Boston, N.H.) contributed 12 points, three rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal, while sophomore Samantha Pfeil (Methuen, Mass.) added 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting.
  • Graduate student Sydnie DeVries (Monson, Mass.) filled the stat sheet with eight points, six rebounds and matched her career-best with five assists.
  • Sophomore Kameron St. Pierre (Swansea, Mass.) chipped in nine points off the bench.
  • Freshman Aniela Kwo (Haverhill, Mass.) had a career-high seven rebounds.
  • The Penmen limited Molloy to 25.0 percent shooting from the field and forced 18 turnovers on the afternoon.
  • The three-game win streak is the longest since SNHU won three straight December 7-21, 2024.   
  • The Penmen lead the all-time series 3-1.  This was the first meeting between the programs since a Lion win in Rockville Centre on 11/27/2016.
