Stephanie Davis (Windham, N.H.) erupted for a career-high 29 points to help erase a double-digit deficit, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team fell to Saint Anselm College, 78-76, in overtime Wednesday evening at Stoutenurgh Gymnasium.

KEY MOMENTS
- After Southern New Hampshire scored the first four points of the game, Saint Anselm closed the opening quarter with an 18-4 blitz to bring an 18-8 lead to the second quarter.
- The Hawks scored five straight late in the second to grab their largest lead of the game at 33-18 with 2:10 on the clock. They would go to the locker room with a 35-25 advantage.
- SNHU stormed out of the break with 10 straight points – with Davis layups bookending 3-pointers by Winterburn and Wager – to even the game at 35-all just 2:12 in. Trailing by four a minute later, the Penmen used triples from Wager, Winterburn and sophomore Madison Hughes (Columbia, Conn.) to power an 11-4 run that put them on top, 46-43, with 4:37 remaining in the third. Saint Anselm countered with an 11-3 spurt to take a 54-49 edge to the final frame.
- The margin was still five nearly two-and-a-half minutes in when four from Davis buoyed an 8-0 run that put the Penmen up, 59-56, with 5:49 to play. Three lead changes and four ties followed, with the hosts in front, 67-66, when Gordon went to the line in the final seconds and drained a free throw to force overtime.
- Neither team led by more than two in an extra session that was tied, 76-76, with 10.5 seconds left when SNHU inbounded the ball with a chance to win it, but a an extremely questionable offensive foul was called with 1.8 on the clock. Saint Anselm would call timeout and drop in a layup to win the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Hughes netted three points (1-4 FG, 1-4 3-FG).
- Freshman Taylor Brennan (Southbury, Conn.) tallied two points (2-2 FT), two rebounds and four assists.
- Junior Matilde Baron (Vicenza, Italy) added two points (1-2 FG), two rebounds and a pair of steals.
- Saint Anselm narrowly outshot Southern New Hampshire, 44.6 percent (33-74) to 44.4 percent (28-63), while the Penmen returned the favor from long distance, 27.3 percent (6-22) to 22.2 percent (4-18). SNHU was plus-6 from the line and shot it better, 70 percent (14-20) to 57.1 percent (8-14).
- The Penmen scored more points on the fast break (16-4), while the Hawks captured the glass (41-40) and the paint (44-32), scored more points off turnovers (17-14) and second chance points (15-9), received more scoring from their bench (17-7) and submitted a more impressive assist-to-turnover ratio (25/13-21/19).

- Southern New Hampshire has dropped two straight.
- Saint Anselm leads the all-time series with Southern New Hampshire, 54-25, and has won two straight after SNHU had taken six of the previous seven, including four straight. The Hawks sweep the regular-season series for the first time since the 2018-19 campaign after a 69-66 win at SNHU back on Jan. 14. The victory snaps a four-game home losing streak for Saint Anselm against the Penmen, winning on its home floor for the first time since Feb. 20, 2019 (71-62).
- Davis' previous career high was 18 against Saint Michael's College back on Nov. 26.
- Gordon's double-double is her fifth of the season and 14th of her career.
- SNHU drops to 71-39 (.645) since the 2021-22 season started.
- Saint Anselm gains another point in the Queen City Cup standings, but SNHU still leads the battle for Manchester supremacy, 15-10.
