Junior Abby Lineman (Doylestown, Pa.) hit two homers and drove in 11 runs as Southern New Hampshire University softball swept a doubleheader at Post University 8-0 and 14-0 on Tuesday.

GAME 1:  SNHU 8, Post 0
  • The Penmen scored four runs in the first and fifth innings to secure the win.
  • In the first, senior Jordyn Resetar (Hanover, Pa.) reached on an error and senior Mackenzie Bruggeman (Trumbull, Conn.) walked.  After sophomore Kaysie DeMoura (Taunton, Mass.) moved the runners into scoring position with a ground out, Donovan singled down the right field line to make it 2-0.
  • Lineman followed with a home run to give the Penmen a 4-0 lead.
  • DeMoura singled in a run in the fifth inning to drive in one run, and Lineman singled home two more, scoring on a steal after sophomore Grace Jenkins (Groton, Conn.) singled.
  • Freitas allowed just two hits in the circle.
GAME 2:  SNHU 14, Post 0
  • SNHU had another strong start in the second game.  Feldman walked and Bruggeman singled.  A double by Donovan plated Feldman and Lineman singled home two for a 3-0 lead.
  • In the second inning, freshman Alyssa Abbott (Hudson, N.H.) walked and scored on a double by Feldman.
  • SNHU added to the lead in the third inning which started with a DeMoura single and a Donovan double.  Lineman doubled home both runners, advancing to third on a wild pitch.
  • Jenkins reached on an error as Lineman scored, and would score on a single by Feldman to extend the lead to 8-0.
  • Lineman hit a three-run homer in the top of the fourth, and Feldman delivered a three-run double as the lead grew to 14-0.
  • Colbert went the distance, striking out ten Eagle batters.
NOTES
  • SNHU leads the all-time series 16-3.  The Penmen have won nine straight against Post and 16 of the last 17.
  • Colbert improves to 4-1 and the 10 strikeouts are a career-high.  The shutout was the second of her career.
  • Freitas recorded her shutout of the season, improving to 3-3.  
  • Lineman leads the team with a .381 average and she has hit all three SNHU home runs this season.  Her 21 RBIs are the most by a NE10 player so far in 2025.

  • SNHU takes a short break before returning to the field on Thursday, March 20 for a doubleheader at Felician University.  
  • The scheduled home opener for the Penmen is Wednesday, March 26 against American International College at 2:00 p.m.
