Week at a Glance (March 10-16, 2025)

Female Athlete of the Week: Abby Lineman – Softball – Jr., C 
Abby Lineman (Doylestown, Pa.) has hit the three SNHU home runs this season and leads the team with 21 RBI.  Named the NE10 Player of the Week on Monday, Lineman hit a pair of homers and drove in 11 runs as SNHU swept a doubleheader at Post University.  She hit a homer and drove in four runs in the first game, and then doubled, homered, and drove in seven more runs in the nightcap last Tuesday.  

Male Athlete of the Week: Blake Wozniak, Men's Lacrosse – Fr., A 
Blake Wozniak (Garden Grove, Calif.) leads the Penmen through five games with 11 goals.  In the win at Dominican University last Wednesday, Wozniak scored five times in a 14-5 win.  He has four multi-goal games in the first five games of his career.  He also matched a career-best with three ground balls in the Dominican game.

Men's Basketball (21-9, 14-6 NE10) 

Last Week's Result: 
3/15 vs Assumption University – L. 66-92 (NCAA East Regional) 

This Week's Games:  
The season is now complete for the Penmen. 

Notes: 
- The first three field goals of the game for the Penmen were three-pointers by junior Royce Williams (Manchester, N.H.), senior Jhamyl Fricas (Lawrence, Mass.), and senior Kurtis Henderson (Brockton, Mass.).   
- SNHU opened the second half on a 7-4 run before the first media timeout.  Williams hit a three-pointer to make it 58-39 with 15:06 to play, but SNHU could not close the gap.
- Williams and Henderson led the Penmen with 17 points.  
- The NE10 Champion Penmen fell 92-66 to wrap successful season at 21-9.  The game was played at Daemen University in Amherst, N.Y.
- Southern New Hampshire had won eight consecutive games heading into the NCAA tournament including a second consecutive Northeast-10 Championship.
- The Penmen, the defending East Region champion, made its third consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament.  They are 31-23 (.574) all-time in the NCAA tournament.

Women's Track & Field

This Week's Meets:
The Outdoor season starts on March 29 with the SNHU Spring Invitational at Ouellette Stadium.

Notes:
- Women's track & field closed Indoor season at the New England Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Brockton, Mass.
- Graduate student Laila Bunnitt (Lewiston, Maine) earned a podium finish in the weight throw by finishing third at the NE10 Championships.  She established a new program record for weight throw at MIT on February 15.  The Penmen finished up in fourth place at the Indoor Championships.
- Senior Tori Allen (Litchfield, N.H.) set a new SNHU record with 3,040 points in the Pentathlon at the NE10 Championships, finishing in second place.
- Sophomore Jordan Wheaton (Hooksett, N.H.) finished 5th in the 60 hurdles at the NE10's - breaking her week-old program record for the event.
- The Penmen won the DMR relay at the NE10 Championships with the legs run by junior Anne Wiersma (Veldhoven, Netherlands), junior Maggie McInerney (Acton, Mass.), freshman Erika Worcik (No. Andover, Mass.) and freshman Paige McInerney (Acton, Mass.).

Notes: 
- Junior Abby Lineman (Doylestown, Pa.) hit two homers and drove in 11 runs in the doubleheader vs. Post and was named NE10 Player of the Week Monday. 
- Senior Amelia Freitas (Plymouth, Mass.) allowed just two hits in the circle and recorded a shutout improving her record to 3-3.  
- Sophomore Julianna Colbert (Burrillville, R.I.) recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts and the second shutout of her career, improving to 4-1.

Notes: 

- Friday's game was the longest in SNHU history, and believed to be the second-longest game ever played in D2.  A 1964 game between Ky. Wesleyan and Oakland City went 22 innings.
- Junior Jake Risedorf  (Barkhamsted, Conn.) took over on the mound in the bottom of the ninth, and kept East Stroudsburg off the scoreboard through the 19th inning.
- Sophomore Nater Wachter (Concord, N.H.) and senior Jancarlos Colon (Santa Isabel, P.R.) each had four hits in the game.
- Friday's second game was shifted to Saturday, with the team's playing two games.
- Junior Parker Lendrum (Exeter, N.H.) allowed two runs on six hits in his seven-inning complete game in the opener - his first win over the season.  He did not walk a batter and struck out seven.
- Freshman Jackson Marshall (Londonderry, N.H.) and Risedorf each hit homers in the win.
- The Penmen took a 2-1 lead to the bottom of the eighth of the nightcap, but fell 5-2.  Marshall and sophomore Joel Valera (Boston, Mass.) drove in the Penmen runs.

Notes: 
- Sophomore Eliana Anderson (Danvers, Mass.) scored 4 goals including the game-winner Saturday with just over three minutes to play.  Anderson has scored four goals in three different games this season.
- Graduate student Abby Cole (Liverpool, N.Y.) stopped 11 shots to earn the win.
- Senior Rachel McLaughlin (Woburn, Mass.) had two goals and three assists.
- Graduate student Katelyn Hadden (Newburyport, Mass.) scored twice and had two assists.
- SNHU was 17-of-18 on its clear attempts.

- SNHU had a 51-28 shot advantage - including 21-5 in the first quarter. 
- The Penmen had a 48-17 edge on grounds balls, 16-5 on face-offs and went 20-22 on its clears vs. 19-28 for Dominican.

Women's Tennis (10-5, 5-3 NE10)

Notes:
- Women's tennis wrapped up its trip to the Aloha State with a pair of wins, downing the University of Hawaii at Hilo, 4-2, Monday, before blanking Chaminade University, 7-0, March 4.
- Graduate student Zuza Krygier (Poznan, Poland) went 4-0, including 2-0 at No. 4 singles. Krygier defeated Hawaii Hilo's Marie Cordonnier, 7-6 (7-2), 6-1, before blanking Selena Buttery, 6-0, 6-0 against Chaminade. She and sophomore Dajana Abadzic (Weinstadt, Germany) took down Hilo's Lehua Jordan and Akari Ichikawa, 6-1, at No. 2 doubles, and also recorded a 6-2 win at No. 1 over Kylie Ye and Isabella Minaudo.

- Men's tennis closed its Hawaii trip with a 5-1 defeat against the University of Hawaii at Hilo on March 3.
- Sophomore Carlos Molero (Barcelona, Spain) collected the lone Penmen point with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles against Yu Jhe Du.

Completed Seasons

Field Hockey (16-4, 12-1 NE10)

Notes:
- Field hockey enjoyed its best season in five years, winning 10 straight matches at one point and climbing as high in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II National Coaches Poll it ever has at No. 4.
- The Penmen earned the No. 2 seed in the NE10 Championship and were toppled in the semifinals by the eventual NCAA National Champions, Saint Anselm College. SNHU claimed its second NCAA Championship berth as the No. 5 seed and fell to the NCAA National Championship finalist, Kutztown University, 2-1 in double-overtime.
- Senior Annemartine Christis (s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands) was named the NE10 Player of the Year, junior Emma Peeters (Wageningen, Netherlands) was chosen NE10 Goalkeeper of the Year, and Julie Munson was selected as the NE10 Coach of the Year. Christis set new single-season program records in goals (30), assists (14) and points (74), as she led the country in goals and points, while ranking second in assists. Peeters played every second in net, recording 10 shutouts, while stopping 102 of 121 shots for a 0.92 goals-against average (GAA) and a nation-leading .843 save percentage.
- Christis and Peeters were joined on the NE10 All-Conference First Team by junior Anne Wiersma (Veldhoven, Netherlands). Senior Eliza Bates (Newport, N.H.) and sophomore Minke van de Poll (Oosterbeck, Netherlands) were Second Team picks, sophomore Jade Hendriks (Huissen, Netherlands) was a Third Teamer and freshman Natalie Paradzick (Hooksett, N.H.) received an All-Rookie Team nod.

Women's Soccer (10-2-6, 5-1-4 NE10)

Notes:
- Women's soccer, which was ranked as high as 10th in the United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25 Poll during the season, began the year with 13 consecutive matches without a loss (9-0-4), tied for the third longest streak in program history.
- The team claimed the No. 3 seed for the NE10 Championship, but was upset in penalty kicks by Saint Anselm College. The Penmen did enough to collect their seventh straight berth to the NCAA Championship and 10th, overall, as they earned the No. 3 seed in the East Region. SNHU rallied for a first round victory over Molloy University, 2-1, but had its season draw to an end with a second round loss against Franklin Pierce University (2-0).
- Junior Claudia Keith (Danvers, Mass.) became the first Penmen to be named the NE10 Goalkeeper of the Year after rankings second in the conference in shutouts (11) and goals-against average (0.55), and third in both saves (62) and save percentage (.861). She also was recognized with a spot on the D2CCA East All-Region Second Team.
- Keith was joined on the NE10 All-Conference First Team by graduate students Alyssa Anderson (Londonderry, N.H.) and Kassidy Michael (Manheim, Pa.). Anderson, a D2CCA East All-Region First Teamer, led the team with 17 points on six goals and five assists, while Michael was a three-time NE10 Defensive Player of the Week. 
- Senior Lauren Conti (Schenectady, N.Y.) and graduate student Agata Giani (Milan, Italy) collected NE10 Second Team honors, while graduate student Ava Jakich-Kunze (Moscow, Idaho), and juniors Imogen Noon (Gold Coast, Australia) and Carly Schofield (Plymouth, Mass.) were all named to the Third Team. Freshman Sam Torres (Schenectady, N.Y.) received an All-Rookie Team nod.

Men's Soccer (14-2-3, 7-0-2 NE10)

Notes:
- Men's soccer put together its best campaign in nearly a decade, as the 14 victories were the most since the 2015 team won 19 matches. The Penmen climbed as high as No. 5 in the United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25 Poll.
- The team went unbeaten in NE10 play to capture the regular season crown, before also collecting its eighth NE10 tournament title. The Penmen garnered the No. 2 seed in Super Region 1, as well as a bye in the first round, when it secured its 24th NCAA Championship bid. They played to a 1-1 draw with seventh-seeded Post University in their second round matchup, but suffered a 7-6 loss in a penalty kick shootout.
- SNHU placed an impressive six on the D2CCA East All-Region First Team, including NE10 Player of the Year Iago Perez (A Coruña, Spain), NE10 Defensive Player of the Year Liam Evans (Rock Hill, N.Y.), NE10 Goalkeeper of the Year Preston Neal (Windham, N.H.) and NE10 Rookie of the Year Gabriel Castro (León, Spain). Fellow NE10 All-Conference First Team selections Martin Zapata (Pamplona, Spain) and Haroun Conteh (Glendale, Ariz.) also received the honor.
- Head coach Josh Taylor also earned his first NE10 Coach of the Year accolade, as the Penmen became the first team to ever sweep all five NE10 major awards. Senior Philipp Herrmann (Bruckmuehl, Germany) was the seventh member of the squad to find a place on the NE10 First Team.
- Sophomore Alex Pons (Castellón, Spain) received a Second Team nod, while graduate student Martin Fuentes (Pamplona, Spain) and junior Alejo Caceres (Córdoba, Argentina) were recognized with Third Team selections.

Women's Volleyball (9-17, 4-6 NE10)

Notes:
- Women's volleyball won three of four at one point, and four of six down the stretch, to earn the No. 6 seed in the NE10 Championship. The Penmen saw their season end with a 3-1 loss at the third-seeded University of New Haven.
- Senior Julia Cavalcanti (Vineyard, Utah) was chosen for the NE10 All-Conference Third Team after ranking fifth in the league in service aces (42) and 12th in hitting percentage (.267). Freshman Addie Garn (Gilbert, Ariz.) earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team, as she placed seventh in the conference in aces per set (0.47) and ninth in assists per set (5.82).

Cross Country

Notes:
- Women's cross country finished as the runner-up at the NE10 Championships and placed ninth at the NCAA East Regional Championships. While the team did not qualify for nationals, junior Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.) did, as her time for the 6k was 22:05.6, a new PR, and good for third place. She and freshman Paige McInerney (Acton, Mass.) earned USTFCCCA East All-Region status. Obernesser completed the 6k at the NCAA National Championships in Sacramento, Calif. in 23:56.9, finishing 229th at the Arcade Creek Cross Country Course.
- Obernesser earned NE10 All-Conference First Team honors, while McInerney was a Second Team selection and was joined by sophomore Deirdre Bailat (North Billerica, Mass.). Freshman Erika Wojcik (North Andover, Mass.) collected Third-Team All-Conference honors.
- Men's cross country finished sixth at both the NE10 and NCAA East Regional Championships. Junior Dillon Labonte (Lee, N.H.) also qualified, individually, for nationals, as he finished fourth at regionals, running a personal best for the 10k in a time of 31:30.5. He and sophomore Eric Sekyaya (Burlington, Mass.) earned USTFCCCA All-Region recognition. Labonte finished 227th in the 10k race at nationals in 33:31.8. Following the race, Labonte was awarded the prestigious NCAA Elite 90 Award, which goes to the athlete with the highest grade-point average (GPA) at each of the NCAA's 90 Championships.
- Labonte was also an NE10 First Team choice, while Sekaya was a Third Teamer.

Women's Basketball (12-16, 7-13 NE10)

Notes:
- Women's basketball won six of eight in the middle of the season, but dropped four straight to end the regular season and collect the No. 9 seed for the NE10 Championship.
- The Penmen went on the road and captured a first round win at eighth-seeded Saint Michael's College, before seeing its season end at top-seeded and eventual NE10 Champion Bentley University.

Men's Ice Hockey (12-15-2, 10-8-2 NE10)

Notes:
- Men's ice hockey reached double-digit wins for the eighth consecutive season, winning four of five at one point in January to set itself up for a playoff push. The Penmen went unbeaten in six of eight league games down the stretch to earn the No. 3 seed for the NE10 Championship. They earned a 1-0, first round victory against sixth-seeded Franklin Pierce University, but fell at second-seeded Saint Michael's College in the semifinal to see their season draw to a close.
- Sophomore Collin Berke (Crofton, Md.) posted a phenomenal season, earning NE10 Goalkeeper of the Year honors and a spot on the NE10 All-Conference Team after finishing with a 2.23 goals-against average (GAA) and .932 save percentage. He led the conference in shutouts, while sitting second in GAA and third in save percentage.
- Junior Brendan Lynch (Nepean, Ontario) was chosen as the NE10 Defensive Player of the Year and joined Berke on the NE10 First Team. Lynch led the team in plus-minus rating (+9) and points (27), while pacing the league in face-off win percentage (.596) and ranking second in assists (20).
- Freshman Ryan Kayser (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) received an NE10 Second Team and All-Rookie Team nod, as he tied for third on the team with 16 points (4 goals, 12 assists).
